Guest guest
Ok, so I got lost in Chinatown 3 times before I found this place, but if anyone knows about downtown traffic and constuction, you understnad lol. Well I meet him and he's really cool and easy to talk to. I fill out these forms and medical history and checklist of my complaints. He takes my pulse and then has me stick out my tongue at him (lol I couldn't stop laughing at that). He asks more questions and then says I should start off by balancing my Chi (it's low or something) and I will feel better. Then I(we) can work on other specific things later. I pay my bill (SO not as expensive as I was expecting) and get a prescription written in Chinese to take to a local TCM store. I go there and they get busy preparing my tea that according to doc is going to taste and smell so horrible I'll need to take this candy afterwards. I was expecting a bunch of herbal capsules, boy! was I shocked LOL. Noone could tell me the English names of what I was in my packages, just that the " candy " is called Haw Flakes. The packages were a mixture of leaves(brown and green), dark stems and branches, red white and a dark brownish bark, dried berries, something resembling a cream colored root flakes, seeds of all shapes and sizes and some whitish translucent stemlike things. Oh and what looks like dark orange peels and some glazed puffy cornnuts looking things LOL. Sorry for the poor descriptions. If anyone has any idea what I'm taking, please let me know. LOL Thanks. I'm off to brew my first batch. Wish me luck! :-)
Guest guest
Many of the Chinese herbs used in a prescription like this have no English name. I've had to blend some at times, and knowing how to read a little Chinese really helped. There are a few herbs that are used on both sides, but even then sometimes the Chinese herb is slightly different in its properties. This is true of Yarrow, Aconite, and Queen Annes Lace among others. Guest guest
Haw flakes are hawthorne berry flakes and quite tasty but also have a medicinal effect for over eating greasy food as well as reducing cholesterol. I'll take a wild guess that he gave you a formula similar to 6 gentleman decoction, called. It contains dang shen- codinoposis, Ban xia- prinellia, chen pi- tangerine peel, da zao- chinese dates, and one or two other things depending on how its put together. Its function is to tonify spleen and drain damp. indications are fatigue, loose stool, undigested food in stool, short of breath, distended abdomen, pale tongue with white, moist or greasy coat, teeth marks on the sides, deep weak pulse. just a wild guess about a few of the descriptions and a little guessing. you may not have all of the symptoms but may recognize a few. bob --- mrsboston_322002 <mrsboston_322002 wrote: > Ok, so I got lost in Chinatown 3 times before I > found this place, but > if anyone knows about downtown traffic and > constuction, you > understnad lol.
