It sounds to me as is there is a problem with the parathyroid...

Too much calcium in the blood can affect the kidneys too hence

dehydratation.

It is the parathyroid gland than produce a hormone that regulates the

calcium in the body and not the thyroid, as far as I know.

I am surprised the doctor is not advising doing further tests to see what

the parathyroid glands are doing.

I think a diagnostic is useful so she can know what she is dealing with.

Best wishes,

Jocelyne.

Too much calcium in the blood means the thyroid gland's isn't producing

enough calcitonin to regulate the calcium in the blood.

The parathyroid hormone increases calcium by stimulating osteoclasts to

increase their breakdown of bone's hard matrix, this process frees calcium

moving it out of bone into blood. Too much or too little calcium in the

blood is not good. Too much can cause brain cells and heart cells to not

function properly. Too little can cause nerve cells to become overactive,

sending too many impulses to muscles and causing the muscles to go into

spasms. What is causing this problem cannot be answered by me. It could be

many things. As to why the blood cells are dehydrated, I cannot answer that

question either. But I would venture to guess that one goes with the other.

One would need to look into diet for one, environmental factors. Any number

of reasons. I would guess that there is congestion somewhere within your

sister. I would think Doc could best tell what is needed, but a good

thorough body -

[herbal remedies] blood tests

Hoping someone can help me with this question for my sis. She had

blood tests done and the test showed elevated calcium in the blood

and also that the blood cells were dehydrated. What the heck does

that mean? Anyone have a clue, the dr. didn't. I have always thought

that an elevated calcium level means that your not getting enough.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks so much, Patty

The thyroid and parathyroid work hand in hand. Parathyroid Hormone (PH) causes calcium to be moved from the bones into the blood. Calcitonin, produced by the thyroid removes excess calcium from the blood and redeposits it back to bone.
