Hi Kathy! I also suffer from IBS and what has been helpful for me is peppermint tea. It is really soothing. If the nausea is also accompanied with gas some crushed fennel seeds added to the tea is very helpful. I've been told that products of NutraStar (http://www.nutrastar.com) are very

effective for IBS. And regular

relaxation. Here's how to determine what sufficient relaxation practice is:

Hi Kathy, I guess it depends on what the nausea is due to. I find that peppermint EO is good, or if your stomach can handle it, eat a dry cracker.

You should consider visiting a good acupuncturist.

they have a great track record of getting rid of IBS.

In general TCM (traditional ) is great

for pain, gyno, chronic disease, GI, and cold and flu.

They use a combo of herbal formulas, needles and their

own diagnositic system that does not rely on western

diagnosis.

Eating candied ginger is great for nausea.

Or if you can find real ginger ale or old fashioned english ginger

beer made with real ginger not a chemistry set, just drinking the

soda works very well.

I keep a six pack of organic ginger ale in the fridge just for this.

Hi Kathy! I know the peppermint and the fennel are both fine for children. They are both very safe herbs and can even be used on infants. I'm sure ginger is fine too. Sometimes just sucking on a piece of peppermint candy will work wonders. Eating raw ginger tastes awful, like eating a raw chili, seriously

hot. Besides, you get a larger dose of nostalgia from real ginger

beer.

Hi! I am new to the group. I was reading through some of the post and

decided to respond to this one. My ex-girlfriend has IBS and the

thing that works for her is RED RASPBERRY. It has tannins in it that

is good for nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. It is also given to women

that are pregnant, so it is safe for children. Plus, it taste better

than ginger. I hope I have helped some.

Red raspberry worked very well for nausea during my pregnancies. When I am not pregnant, I tend to use peppermint tea, which works well for me. Hope that gives you a few options.

We use red raspberry at our house a lot. I agree it's one of the most

essential medicines to keep around.

This is Kathy!

I want to take a moment and say thank you to ALL for

your info you gave me on nausea. What a great group!!!

Now, I have another question. I mentioned earlier in a

post that my daughter of 7 had IBS. She has daily

episodes of a " nervous stomach " . I read elsewhere that

chamomile tea helps calms nervous spasms. Would this

be good? Or is there anything else that works?

Thank you.

Hi Kathy! Get 2 sun tea jars, one for day, one for night. You will be making tea at night for daytime consumption and vica versa.

MOON TEA

Fill jar with clean water and add 3 tea bags peppermint, 1 tea bag marshmallow root; put the lid on and set out under a waxing or full moon. Use the next day, sweetened with honey.

SUN TEA

Fill jar with clean water and add 3 tea bags catnip, 1 tea bag Chamomile; put lid on and set in sunlit area all day. Use in the evening and before bedtime, sweetened with honey.

Kim,

What buy is probably NOT what is called real kefir. You can make real

kefir yourself with almost no efforts by acquiring " kefir grains " , a

culture that should last you forever. You can go to

http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html to learn much more about

it.

For many kids about that age, taking them out of public school cures this

problem. I'm not kidding.

Even during summer, knowing that she has to go back to Hell soon, can cause

upsets like this. I have observed it many times. And public school Hell

can be so bad, that many kids are afraid to tell anyone, especially their

parents, just how bad it is. Now if your child is not in public school, and

is having problems like this, then it is more likely to be a medical

situation, and may be diet-related.

Chamomile can have some effect on the stomach, but it acts more on the

nervous system, which has a lot of endings in the stomach. For kids, i

would recommend iced peppermint tea, maybe with a tiny bit of clove.
