Guest guest
Hoping someone can help me with this question for my sis. She had blood tests done and the test showed elevated calcium in the blood and also that the blood cells were dehydrated. What the heck does that mean? Anyone have a clue, the dr. didn't. I have always thought that an elevated calcium level means that your not getting enough. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks so much, Patty
Guest guest
Too much calcium in the blood means the thyroid gland's isn't producing enough calcitonin to regulate the calcium in the blood. The parathyroid hormone increases calcium by stimulating osteoclasts to increase their breakdown of bone's hard matrix, this process frees calcium moving it out of bone into blood. Too much or too little calcium in the blood is not good. Too much can cause brain cells and heart cells to not function properly. Too little can cause nerve cells to become overactive, sending too many impulses to muscles and causing the muscles to go into spasms. What is causing this problem cannot be answered by me. It could be many things. As to why the blood cells are dehydrated, I cannot answer that question either. But I would venture to guess that one goes with the other. One would need to look into diet for one, environmental factors. Any number of reasons. I would guess that there is congestion somewhere within your sister. I would think Doc could best tell what is needed, but a good thorough body cleanse could not hurt and can only help. - patty3seifert herbal remedies Tuesday, July 23, 2002 6:34 PM [herbal remedies] blood tests Hoping someone can help me with this question for my sis. Guest guest
Does your sister drink enough water and consume enough sodium? Take a look at http://www.watercure2.com/ if you are not familiar with Dr. Batmanghelidj's work. I remember reading a story somewhere about a man who had high blood protein level and thick blood. His doctor told him to avoid dietary protein and prescribed blood thinners. Somehow, he got in touch with Dr. Batmanghelidj who advised him to drink 2 quarts of water a day with additional salt (to keep water around cells), and both conditions resolved. I wonder if your sister is in similar situation. Roman patty3seifert wrote: > Hoping someone can help me with this question for my sis. Guest guest
Thanks Roman, I have read Dr. B's book and it is excellent. She drinks water all the time and more now that she has moved to Az. ;-) Thanks, Patty
