Guest guest
The Citizens Commission on Human Rights® (CCHR) is requesting your help in safeguarding our children’s future by signing and promoting The Petition for Children’s Rights Against Psychiatric Stigma and Drug Abuse, located at http://www.FightForKids.com/petition.htm Today, six million American children are being labeled and prescribed brain-damaging psychiatric drugs. They are being told there is something “wrong” with their brain, though no one can prove it. They are labeled with diagnoses such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), a disorder that exists not because of science but by a majority vote of American Psychiatric Association Committee psychiatrists. Children are then subjected to brain-altering drugs in order to change their behavior. In some states, parents have been threatened that if they do not agree to a psychiatric diagnosis and drug treatment for their child, they can be charged by Child Protective Services for emotional and medical neglect.Mothers like Mrs. Sheila Matthews and Mrs. Patricia Weathers, who have endorsed the online petition, know the trauma of being faced with coercive psychiatric tactics. Through the school system, they were both informed that their sons had "ADHD" and needed drugs. Their outrage over the false information they eventually uncovered regarding the "disorder" has resulted in a personal crusade to educate parents about fraudulent diagnoses being pushed off on unsuspecting parents. Mrs. Weather's son, Michael, suffered dramatically from psychotropic drug side effects before a proper medical exam discovered his erratic behavior was caused by severe allergies. Mrs. Matthews states, "I urge parents and concerned citizens everywhere to log onto this website and sign this petition. There was nothing mentally wrong with my child but I was forced to believe this. Know your rights as a parent and demand accountability for the false information being foisted off on uninformed parents by the mental health industry."This petition will be sent to the President and used in meetings with Congressmen to show that we will not stand idly by while psychiatrists hook millions of children on mind-numbing drugs.CCHR is requesting your help in this crucial battle to protect our children. There are three effective things you can do:1) Go to http://www.FightForKids.com/petition.htm and follow the links to sign The Petition for Children’s Rights Against Psychiatric Stigma and Drug Abuse.2) If you have a website, please include a link to this petition address so that many more people who share this same concern over the labeling and drugging of children can voice their opposition.3) Forward this e-mail and link to your friends, family, colleagues and any other concerned individuals. With a concerted, united effort we can help stop the legal enforcement of psychiatric labels and drugs in our schools.Thank you for your help in safeguarding our children and their future!Sincerely, The Executives and Staff of CCHR International Ian "Doc" Shillington N.D.505-772-5889Dr.IanShillington

Now he is on Wellbutrin. This hurts so badly for me as a grandmother to sit back and watch this happen. It seems the younger parents just swallow anything any person in authority might say to them, without even questioning it. I cannot beleive this. Dr's are not always right, that is why they are licensed to " practice " medicine. Teachers are hired to teach our children not to decide the child has a disorder. It is none of their business regarding the health of the child. It is the parents responsibility. Of course courteous teachers do point out things in teachers conferences that might help our childs learning skills. Some teachers today cant " handle " children , so they claim the child is " hyperactive " . I worked in a private school for a few years as a teacher's aide. One little fellow in the 4th grade was a real behavioral challenge. Even in the early 70's this " hyperactivity " issue was discussed among educators. The child was discovered not to have a mental or social disorder, but the pace at which he was learning was boring him to death. He was re-tested and put into the studies that offered him suffcient learning challenges and his behavioral problem disappeared. I would urge all parents not to just accept one opinion. Educate yourself on the subject. What is in the child's diet? So many things to consider besides just the behavior. For the best interest of the child, find out what the real bottom line problem is. In most cases, it will not require drugs. MissMouthy
Guest guest
I understand how you feel hon. We're talking about six million of our own kids. Almost makes the holocaust in Germany look like a tea party. Almost. We gotta change this here in the US. We have to change it everywhere. No one can remain silent on this issue. Not if you wish to be free. Guest guest
Normally I don't post here as I'm much better at being a lurker & student. When I saw this post however, I felt it was very important & needed to speak up. For a brief period of time my husband & I became foster parents thinking we'd be helping children that were 'in need' of a temporary [often made permanant] home because of neglect or abuse. From 'our' experience we learnt that TOO MANY [nearly all, by the time they reach their teens] of these children are/were put on some sort of drug therapy because they are 'difficult' to handle.. Labels for these poor kids are a dime a dozen. To me it appeared a quick fix to a more complicated & sensitive situation. Agencies & councilors are too eager to hurry up & get kids on drugs when foster parents run into discipline problems - forget that their hearts just " might " be breaking or that they may be acting out their pain, or a result of the abuse / negect they've endured, or moreso - that its typical behavour for a child at 'that' age. While I feel tempted to rant further about what we've learnt from our experience, I won't.. Suffice it to say, we're getting out of foster care. I just wish I knew a way to stop my tax $ from supporting this. Thank-you Doc, for showing me a new way to try & help todays hurting children. herbal remedies, " Ian Shillington N.D.
