Guest guest
I'm a little late on this discussion but... I have a mosquito allergy. As an example, last week I was bit on the forehead and after my usual routine of immediately putting on anti-itch cream, popping a tylenol and then putting ice on it - I still looked like I lost a fight with a baseball bat. (It swells much worse and I often become physically ill if I don't follow this routine.) Well, today I went outside and paid the blood tax to the little fiends. When I came in, I was beginning a chore which requires coconut oil and casually decided to put coconut oil on the bite instead of following my routine. (It had already started swelling to the point where it looked like a 3d image of an octopus..) The itch took about 5 minutes to stop and the swelling was still growing, but after that 5 minutes the itching stopped and within 10 minutes the swelling was gone. Half an hour later a lump that usually stays a day or two looks like a small blemish. After this worked, I looked breifly and found that some cultures habitually use it for itching.. One called for mixing lemon juice or using 10-50% of the oil as a base with others. Since I don't like fooling around with my bites, I'm sticking to 100% unless I get bored. Now, if only I can stumble onto a natural repellant as effective.. Anyone know other uses for Coconut oil? (P.s. This isn't Cocobutter or other " coco " oils, just plain old coconut that solidifies at room temperature - since TX isn't room temperature right now, it's liquid for me..) - y > > iris054 [clicker] > Sunday, July 07, 2002 3:10 AM > herbal remedies > [herbal remedies] Bug bite balm? > > > Is there anything good to put on mosquito or spider bites to make > them stop itching and heal quickly? > > Melinda
Guest guest
I know that coconut oil is good for head lice (well, bad for the lice, good for the head). Not sure why this is so, but it came as one of the remedies when my kids had head lice. Marti Sunland, CA Yuquibo wrote: I'm a little late on this discussion but... I have a mosquito allergy.
