Hello there,

First, it's really imperative that you rule out the

fact that bacteria or something else entirely could be

causing your problems. It seems that everyone and

their mother has a nasty case of candida, and while

this is possible or even probable due to the onslaught

of pharmaceuticals (especially antibiotics and birth

control pills) MDs throw at patients nowadays, it's

not always yeast that's to blame. These drugs, along

with a poor diet, are often times too much for a

sensitive digestive system to handle. When the gut

ecosystem gets out of whack, all sorts of evil

pathogenic *bugs* go to work on making their new home

all cushy and comfy for them, but miserable for you.

Getting them to leave and rebuilding that internal

ecosystem is a tricky endeavor, one that requires an

entire lifestyle overhaul. It's simple in theory, but

when a person is faced with having to give up their

favorite (junk)foods, well...you know how that goes.

What I recommend doing at first is to have some

functional diagnostic tests performed. The two most

important, IMO, are a comprehensive diagnostic stool

analysis and a blood test to determine food

allergies/sensitivities. Without that information

those tests will provide, you run the risk of self

diagnosing which in turn will cause you to spend

oodles of $$$ on supplements etc. that may or may not

help you at all - not to mention the fact that you'll

just be lengthening the amount of time it takes to

heal.

Anyhow, I could go on and on about this. If you want

to talk more, feel free to email me.

In good health,

Erica

Hey Erica: Great post; muy interesting info! As someone else in Miss

Mouthy's position (and not just as it relates to nicknames...), I thought

this was great advice. Um...where can I get these tests? I have a sinking

feeling you're going to tell me to go to an MD and request these tests,

which ranks up there in my book with " Yelling at a wall " . Is there any way

for a *person* to get these tests? How much do they cost?

Thanks lots,

ST

Hey Sara,

I did a bunch of tests like these through a naturopath in my area. You

don't need to go through an M.D. to do stool and saliva tests that can

assess these things with a certain degree of accuracy.
