Guest guest
The health food stores or organic section of the grocery stores don't have organic papayas or organic pineapple now only the regular variety. What do we do about enzymes now--until these fruits are in the stores again? You said something about NOW having enzymes--I noticed one that said Papaya on it --is this what you mean? please let me know. Thank you! It has been so hot here--too hot to want to eat cooked foods. I have been eating more raw foods. I have been feeling more alert. I am still rebounding. Yours truly, Glenda
Guest guest
I second this request, Doc, with the addition that I'd like to be able to track down these organic fruits through catalog or online, since I've never found them anywhere, not even in season in the health stores -- Heck, they probably wither to ash as soon as they're brought into the city! *lol* But ever since you told me about this I've *really* wanted to get them for myself and my husband. Any ideas would be excellent! --Sara >The health food stores or organic section of the grocery stores don't >have organic papayas or organic pineapple now only the regular >variety. Guest guest
Dear Glenda, Very good on the rebounding. Keep it up ;o) The "NOW" brand is what I use when I can't get FRESH ORGANIC PAPAYA OR PINEAPPLE. Until the healthfood stores start getting 'em in we're all gonna hav ta line up at Elaine's door (and I've got first dibs LOL). And her's won't be ready for perhaps another month by the sound of her last comm. If you remember to eat a lot of raw, organic foods, you'll definitely be getting a fair share until the papayas are ready. I just purchased an organic pineapple from Wild Oats and it "was" a beauty. Make sure you eat it right after you slice it as the enzymes start disappearing after exposure to the air. Cut from the bottom, cross sectioned and work towards the top. After you've taken what you want, place what's left of the pineapple on a plate and stick in the fridge. When you use it again, take the bottom, thin layer off, throw away, and then the rest should be still as good. Guest guest
Dear Sara, As I said in a previous post, I just bought a beauty of a pineapple (organic of course) from Wild Oats. Now if I can get 'em way out here in NO-Man's land (middle of New Mexico), y'all should be able to do so as well. The problem with the papayas, is that they're just not in season yet so the pineapples will just have to do. I don't know of any on-line sources, and I wish I did. There's a lot of seeds in a big papaya so one big one should give you enough seeds to last a long time. Once you dry them, they keep a fair amount of time as long as you keep 'em in a dry dark place such as a cupboard. Guest guest
Yeah, I used to go to Wild Oats when I lived in Santa Fe. There ain't much that you can find in NM that you can't find elsewhere, but Wild Oats is one of those things we just don't have here. I found pineapples and papayas at the Ann Arbor Health Food Cartel...sorry, Co-op...but when I asked, I found out they weren't even organic. (You got it; those cheapskates are putting non-organic veggies next to organic ones and charging organic prices for them.) Thanks anyway -- ST >Dear Sara, > >As I said in a previous post, I just bought a beauty of a pineapple >(organic of course) from Wild Oats.
