Guest guest
Michael, I'm impressed that you were able to help your daughter. If only I'd known about herbs when my own kids were rebellious, quarreling teens. There are many herbs that are great in salads, as well as teas, extracts, compresses, etc--and remember, you can dry those leaves and grind them to make capsules. Always check out each herb carefully first by doing a search on each to find whether they clash with something you are already taking(be it prescription med or another herb). And finally, don't be like " some of us who doctor ourselves with the notion of, " If a little is good, a lot is better " Trust me, it ain't so!! I've been soooooo guilty (when I do get sick )of trying several remedies at once, then not knowing which one worked. Did I say THAT???!!Go to www.richters.com or www.horizonherbs.com I think I gave the wrong link to Horizon Herbs in the last post to Christy. Sorry Christy!!! Elaine P.S. If I had it to do all over again, I'd give my kids magnesium to relax those tense bodies head to toe. Theres so much more that we can do to help them, even our other Michael (Riversong) has information on how certain music can promote healings in our bodies. Isn't that amazing??? We are living in a most wonderful time in history as far as I'm concerned. I love the information we can glean so easily from each other. ---- herbal remedies Wednesday, June 26, 2002 9:49:25 PM twobears [herbal remedies] greetings and salutations I'm Michael, recently joined. I've been enjoying reading the daily synopsis very much, feel comfortable enough here that I'd like to share a few herbal experiences. I'm very new to using herbs, just started growing the usual culinary stuff in the yard and got interested in them, then discovered the incredible effects of St. John's Wort on my daughter who has been diagnosed with depression and Oppositional Defiance Disorder - what an amazing difference it has made to our lives. I used to wake up EVERY MORNING hearing her yelling at my wife, now she behaves like a regular teenager - sometimes difficult or disagreeable, but so much better than she was. I started experimenting with a combination of St. John's wort capsules (cause I haven't grown it yet - can't find the seedlings) and Lemon balm tea after ten years of prescription medicine for genital herpes, I think the herbs work more effectively. After twenty years of using " anti-dandruff " shampoo I quit using regular shampoo to try an experiment on myself. For two weeks now I have washed my hair using only water, then rinse my scalp three times daily with a strong tea of rosemary, thyme and sage, all of which grow like weeds in my yard. Great results, my hair feels thicker, no dandruff in sight! What a change. I am thoroughly impressed with herbal because of the results of these three experiments. I do hope these results are useful. Is there any reason that one should not simply eat the leaves of herbs rather than making a tea or tincture? I've been simply swallowing the leaves in my lemon balm tea thinking it might be beneficial Thanks Doc for the tape, I'll listen to it shortly. Once again, greetings, Michael
