Guest guest
Hi, I'm 48 years old and I'm diagnosed with cml leukemia. I'm now in my 4th year remission and I do take high dose chemo pills daily( gleevec 800mg.) which is so called smart drug. One of the side effects is diarhea. I know that the chemo pills alone destroys the good bacteria in my stomach and prior to my leukemia I've been suffering from lack of good bacteria in my system. I do take probiotic acidophilus but I think it is not sufficient enough. May I have any advise concerning the type and dosage of probiotics that will fit my condition .And, may I know how to boost more good bacteria in to my stomach. Thank you very much. Guest guest
Hi Danny, I'm sorry to hear you are so ill. To help control your diarhea you might try to include plenty of yogurt as well as your probiotic, and also incorporate cheese and bananas into your diet. Both cheese and banana firm the stools naturally. Taking a teaspoon of cinnamon in a cup of warm water with a little honey might possibly also give you some relief. It was what I used when my children were small as I did not want to give them anything that wasn't natural. I would also suggest that you include a natural fiber supplement...oddly enough it sometimes acts as a firming agent in the gut. I wish you health and peace. Guest guest
Hi again, I had one other thought about your diarhea problems. Diarhea quickly depletes the body of all vitamins and minerals. Are you taking supplements to keep your body fed nutritionally? Please remember that we use herbs and spices for healing specific ailments. But, if you do not keep your body at optimum health by incorporating on a daily basis all the vitamins, minerals and amino acids that are required for the body and mind to function at peak performance, it takes much longer to heal when we are ailing. Ideally we would get all these in our food. Unfortunately, we don't. Our food source has become so depleted of these nutrients and so full of dyes, preservatives and other toxins that it is a continual struggle to maintain health. Focus on bringing your diet into nutritional excellence. Adding astragulus or echinacea to boost your immune system might also prove helpful. I would also suggest that you learn meditation. Combining meditation and prayer can have a wonderful healing influence on the body. (A NOTE ABOUT MEDITATION) It is very difficult the first week or so to still your mind and meditate. But, after that you will find yourself going into a quiet restful place fairly quickly. There your body will find help in healing. Don't get discouraged. Just keep telling your conscious mind to be quiet so your unconscious mind can get on with the healing. Quieting the conscious mind is the key. That is why we heal so much faster when we sleep. The body is not distracted with all the thoughts that run through our conscious mind continually and can focus on the really important job of healing and renewing us. Adding several short periods of meditation to your night's sleep gives the body much more help in healing. I also recommend to anyone with any kind of cancer to increase their Vitamin A intake. Vitamin A has been shown to have a suppressing effect on cancerous cells. According to Adele Davis and others you can take as much as 100,000 units a day for a year before you develop toxic symptoms. And, those symptoms are usually loss of hair and dry skin. To my knowledge no one has ever died of an overdose of vitamin A. Too much iron, on the other hand, can kill you so be careful with that. You might want to talk to your doctor about adding vitamin A to your diet. Again, I wish you health and peace in your life.
