Guest guest
My 15 year old son had all 4 of his wisdom teeth removed ( cut out) last Friday morning. Since then he has not been able to eat because of the swelling to his jaws. I refused the steroids that the MD wanted him to take as well as the antibiotics. Now I am living with the fall out of my convictions. Does anyone have any holostic remedies that will reduce the swelling so that he can eat again. Its been 4 days and he has had nothing but smoothies and protien shakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Guest guest
I think the Anti-bitoics should be used;this prevents swelling and infection. Anti-Bitoics are wonderful is used infrequently. Don't jeoporadize the boy's health over one prescripiton of Antibiotcis. Guest guest
There are times antibiotics are needed - this is one of them. My daughter had hers removed Thursday, so I know what you are going through. Here's what I did. 1) I am giving her ALL of the antibiotics she was prescribed. They prescribe these because the wisdom teeth, if they haven't come down/through, are VERY near the sinuses and risk of perforating the sinus can be very high. Even a microscopic hole in the sinus can lead to a very dangerous infection. Give your child the antibiotics! It is CRUCIAL. 2) Make a warm rinse with 1/2 cup water, 1/2 tsp salt, 2 drops tea tree, 2 drops clove. Have him just HOLD it in his mouth for at least 30 seconds every hour or so. This does three things. It helps the incisions/stitches heal, tea tree is an antibacterial so it helps prevent infection and both tea tree and clove have pain-relieving properties so it can reduce pain quite a lot. (Novacaine is actually related to the main property of clove) 3) Ideas for food: soups, broths, fruit smoothies, yogurt, mashed potatoes/gravy, applesauce, SlimFast, Ensure - anything soft - he should be able to eat by now - if it were my son, I'd be calling the doc and getting that prescription for antibiotics and making sure nothing else was going on. As I said, my daughter got hers removed last thursday - and hers were a *very* bad case - she is back to school today and eating almost normally. She's still swollen some, and of course, sore, but she's healing nicely. Good luck and my prayers are with you and your son. Its been 4 days and he has had nothing but smoothies and protien shakes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.> OK, you asked. I try to not make posts into commercials, but every now and then something I sell is simply the best thing I know. Recovazon has proven itself many times over as a swelling reducer and wound healer. Combined with Sangre de Drago, which is quite astringent and also an amazing wound healer, it really might do the trick. Ask me off list for a longer list of testimonials. ienvan Or, just skip that step, go to http://wildhealing.net and get a package each of Sangre de Drago and Recovazon in Liquizons. ($25 each) We just got those. I love my handy Drago squeeze bottle but the contents tend to dry up after a while, so my next order will be the liquid caps. Just open a capsule of each, put the contents into some water and swish around his mouth. Here is my dental experience: I took my trusty bottle of Sangre de Drago along to the dentist when I had to have an extraction. At my request a few drops were applied to the wound immediately afterwards. They stuck some wads of gauze in my jaw and let me sit for a few minutes. When the dentist came back and peeked into my mouth he exclaimed with sincere surprise: " Hey, that stuff works! " I was warned there would be discomfort for a few days. I took three Recovazon at bedtime and experienced none. Modern pain-free dentistry and ancient herbal knowledge is a winning combination in my book! Guest guest
Thanks for the ideas. I am going to the health food store today to get these product's and will keep them on hand. He isn't going to take the antibiotics unless he gets and infection. I can't think of a better way to screw up the flora of the bowel than with antibiotics. There are other plenty of good remedies out there. Besides he couldn't open his mouth wide enough to get the pill in. LOL. Daphne
