Oil pulling question

I finally overcame my disgust and tried it

yesterday, with good sesame oil.

Yuck, but the prospect of white teeth is

incentive enough to make me persevere.

On a good day I stumble out of bed between

6 and 6.30 and hit the yoga mat first thing,

or it won't get done. By the time that's done

my DH has the coffee ready, and I am ready

for it and for food.

So I did the pulling thing late in the afternoon,

about 3 hours after lunch.

Is that good enough, empty-stomach-wise?

I decided that if I was going to do it, it had to be the first stop when

I got out of bed in the morning..so I swish while I'm making my coffee,

etc... it works, the time passes. Do it while doing your yoga??!

I use sesame oil--it was all I had. I finally ordered some sunflower oil

but for some reason, the sesame oil feels (?) better...so I'm back to

sesame oil. I don't fail to rinse and gargle with salt water with a dash

or 2 of baking soda. All part of the ritual..

Hi Ien. I've found the sunflower oil to be pretty much tasteless. If I THINK

about it being oil, after being in my mouth for the 20 minutes and just

before I spit it out, I can actually gag! Lol I have a high gag reflex. But

so long as I'm not thinking " I have a mouthful of oil " then everything is

fine. I have not noticed any whitening of my teeth, but then I don't drink

coffee or smoke so have very few stains to begin with. But my teeth

certainly do feel cleaner all day long!

And I have to say this--I finally got the courage up to try brushing with

hand soap. Now, you must understand that when us kids were little my mom

would make us take a bite of soap and eat it if we were caught telling

lies--so after my first bite of soap you can imagine I never lied much.

Yuck!! So though I have heard about using a mild, glycerin free soap like

dove for brushing the teeth and how very healthy it is for the gums, I just

couldn't bring myself to try it. SOAP! Deliberately put on my TEETH! NO

WAY. But, my husband likes dove soap and had left a bar sitting on the

bathroom counter. I figured after my bold adventure with oil pulling I

could try anything. I just steeled my nerves, tentatively rubbed the

toothbrush over the bar ONCE and put it in my mouth. Not much of

anything!!! So I rubbed the brush a couple of times, enough to make a tiny

bit of foam, and brushed. Again--nothing!!! Well, it's not near as awful

as I expected it to be. And--it left my mouth feeling SUPER fresh after the

oil, and my teeth feeling SUPER clean! Now here's the strange thing--I have

one loose tooth, that oil swishing and Dr. Schulze's tooth and gum formula

have not tightened up--but 3 days of soap brushing and I can already feel a

difference in the tightness of the tooth!!! How weird is that? But it's

incentive enough for me to keep using the dove.
