I started oil pulling several weeks ago. I used expeller pressed

safflower oil. Nothing unusual to report. However, I developed a pain

in the area of the kidneys. This has persisted approximately three

weeks. I have no history of kidney stones etc. Any advice? I have no

health insurance.

Also for several days I have experienced what I suspect to be

sciatica, pain in the lower back with shooting pains down my right

leg. Rubbing the area with Capzasin HP has not helped. I do not

normally take otc painkillers. I did try aspirin today with some

success but the aspirin upset my stomach. I tried soaking in the

bathtub over the weekend but I am a 6' tall overweight male. That does

not seem to be a workable solution. Any ideas?

For the sciatica pain try Pete Egoscue's book Pain Free. Simple, free

stretches to do to relieve this pain.

I've been oil pulling and what I noticed is that my urine is now clear

instead of yellow. Perhaps you are cleaning something out of your kidneys?

I did not have any pain with my change though.

Hello, J Le Blanc,

Both kidneys? How is your fluid intake? Are you dehydrated? Your kidneys need

sufficient fluids to do their jobs...take your weight, divide it in half, that

result is the number of minimum ounces of (clean) water you should be drinking

in a day. Caffiene and alcohol do not help the kidneys. Do you experience any

pain on going to the bathroom? Is your pain sharp or dull?

It is impossible to diagnose someone (and unethical as well) with internal

pain over the internet and I would advise that this not be your goal. Having

said that, your sciatica is likely unrelated. You state that you are overweight

at 6 foot. An exam by a doctor is in order, alternative or western- but you say

you have no health insurance. Does your community provide, what they call, a

free clinic or a walk in, low income health center? I would not want to suggest

any treatment for an undiagnosed kidney problem and if you didn't have kidney

pain, once you get that sorted out, I would suggest a regular excersize

program-just walking a half hour a day-for your sciatica-and thereafter, try a

little heat/ice on your lower right side of the back-fifteen minutes heat (like

a low setting on a heating pad) and then ten minutes on ice pack. (Helps warm

the muscles and reduce inflammation in the area). Three weeks of kidney pain is

not a good sign... especially if you also have

pain on urination-this could be a sign of infection.

Hope this helps,

Best of luck to you,

Powitree

It could be toxins on the move from the oil pulling.

Are you drinking any water after you're done with the OP? I read to

drink 2-3 glasses of water when done. If not, try it and see if it

makes any difference.
