Guest guest
Please help me, anyone!!! I'm a 31-yr-old female who has had hormone imbalance since I entered puberty at age 11. I've never had regular cycles, even was put on birth control in Jr. High so I'd have periods and to get rid of ovarian cysts. I can't take any birth control because everything I try either makes me suicidal or not want to have anything to do with my husband. I've taken progesterone cream for a couple years (that's what I'm low in) and it worked at first (I got pregnant after trying for over a year and never having been careful with my husband in the 10 years before that). But it doesn't seem to work much anymore. I've tried a few different brands from my health store. I don't know if I need a better brand or to try something else. I can't even tell you how much of a struggle almost every day is for me between being tired, unable to concentrate and remember things, bloated and sore, my skin breaking out like I'm a teenager, and trying to be a good wife and mother to my 2-yr-old who is on the Autistic spectrum. I have battled depression since 15 and wish so much that I could get off of the medicine (I'm trying to wean off now), but I don't know if it's even possible with my hormones being so crazy. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to know. Thanks, Sommer Grapevine, TX
Guest guest
Sommer, Have you ever tried Reflexology? It might help and won't hurt. Here is one of my favorite Reflexology stories. I used to have an office next to a hair salon. One of the girls bartered hair care for sessions. T. had just suffered the tragic miscarriage of a malformed fetus. She was over 5 months and had only conceived with the help of fertility drugs. She hoped Reflexology would help her towards a regular cycle so she could try again. She was always terribly irregular. Her period might come every three months, and the weeks before she'd feel horribly bloated. Reflexology is great for people who work on their feet all day anyhow. There are no side effects, just bonus results! After the first session her tailbone stopped hurting. It had been painful ever since a car accident a few years ago. Next thing we knew, she was pregnant! Never mind the drugs, this just happened. She had a healthy full term son. I have heard a lot of Reflexology fertility stories. Not that you are trying to get pregnant, but it shows how well this humble healing art can work to regulate errant systems. Of course there is nutrition and herbs too... But I'll leave it this for now. Ien in the Kootenays http://profiles./free_green_living

Guest guest
Hi, Some diet also can help you regulate your harmone, Im an indian and feel that Ayurveda has most of the healing powers among other types of treatment. Try avoiding Vinegar,Cheese products , Mushrooms , Pineapple ,Chikkos any thing that has baking soda added to it. because they almost inhibit progesteron as per my doctor. Guest guest
I'm jumping in mid-conversation (I just joined), so I hope this hasn't already been resolved! Sommer, It sounds like you are on the right track with the progesterone. Estrogen Dominance WILL cause brain fog, depression, bloating, acne (among a wagonload of other problems). You need to get some natural progesterone that will work for you! Can you tell me what kind you are using? There are many creams out there that claim to be progesterone, but are nothing more than wild yam " lotion " . Also... Make sure your cream does NOT contain: * glycerin, petroleum or mineral oils - clog the pores of the skin and make it hard for the progesterone to get into the blood stream. * phyto-estrogens, such as Black Cohosh, Dong Quai, Red Clover, Licorice Root and Siberian Ginseng - These will stimulate our own estrogens and if we are already estrogen dominant, we don't want to use a product that is going to continually stimulate the estrogen. A good cream must have 400-450mg of progesterone per ounce in it. No more, no less. Have you read any of Dr. John Lee's books? For you, I recommend " What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause " or the newest one, " Hormone Balance Made Simple " . -- Shana Clagg
Guest guest
Sommer, You might find help with vitex (also chaste tree berry). Do a search for it with hormone balancer or something similar. I had good luck with it for menopausal symptoms. It is supposed to be a hormone balancer. Also limiting sweetners, sugar, refined or processed foods or foods with preservatives. You also might look into Johanna Budwig's protocol to help balance your intake of essential fatty acids (omega 3's imparticular). A good group for information on that is " flaxseedoil2 " also in gorups. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Sommer, It could be a number of factors involved with the problems you're experiencing. I can give you some general recommendations. Hormonal imbalances, cysts, and acne are signs of a congested liver. Taking Milk Thistle and SAM-e is beneficial. Since the milk thistle will help the liver to detoxify you may experience " healing crisis " symptoms. If this occurs you can reduce your dosage or discontinue. If you are using an anti-depressant medication, pregnant or nursing you should consult your doctor before taking the SAM-e. I used to suffer from PMS being sick 2 weeks out of each month. One supplement I can't do without is Omega-3 Fish Oil supplement. Essential fatty acids are so important for overall health and many if not most people do not get enough in their diets. Red Raspberry and False Unicorn are herbs that are very beneficial for PMS. I also try to avoid synthetic estrogens. You can find more information on xenoestrogens here: http://www.natureforlife.com/content/view/60/2/ I know for so many women using a natural progesterone cream makes a huge difference. But, in my case using progesterone actually made my symptoms worse. The key is to balance the hormones which the liver's job and if the liver isn't functioning properly this causes problems. Hope this information helps. Blessings, Michelle Newport, CHC, CH Certified Herbalist Nature's Sunshine Manager http://www.mynsp.com/natureforlife Nature For Life P.O. Guest guest
Sommer - Phil's answer sounds good for the glandular imbalance ------ but it sounds like you have a couple of different things going on besides that. It's kinda like a domino effect - one causes another. I would recommend St.John's Wort for depression. I have taken Prozac and find St John's Wort to be just as effective. The fatigue, lack of concentration and inability to remember are all signs of depression. I understand how each day can be a struggle. Meditation can really help (TAKE the time for yourself!!)--look up meditation tapes on pc. Valerian and KavaKava are herbs that help you relax. Melatonin can be quite effective for insomnia. B12 supplements and a good multivitamin with antioxidants will be a plus for energy. You don't say how old you are --- but COQ10 is just an excellent herb as you get older. I have some experience with kids that are autistic --- and that can be quite a challenge in itself --- and also quite rewarding. I know it is hard to find time for yourself, especially under your circumstances, but YOU NEED TO DO THAT. Quiet time - no phone, no interruptions, no kids! Explain to your hubby that you need 1/2 hr out of each day for yourself and TAKE IT!!!! Take deep deep breathes and allow yourself to be peaceful. Lastly -- a good sounding board can work wonders ----- someone to talk to who will listen and who has been where you are. If you'd like you can always get ahold of me --- would be nice to talk to you! E-mail is helen_1947_slaughter or laughingspiritwithin. Instant messenger is helen_1947_slaughter or laughingspiritwith ---- . Hear from you soon???
