The difference between the two is that most all milk thistle is

extracted with acetone - which is hepato-toxic - whether it be from

China or Europe.

However, the milk thistle plus product is NOT extracted with acetone. It

is from my HCV alternative treatment guru, Christopher Hobb's company,

Rainbow Light.

Because the Milk Thistle Plus is not extracted with the efficient but

harsh acetone, the Silymarin extract is 10%, not 80%. However, there are

three things that come into play to increase the synergy of absorption:

1) More of the full-spectrum ingredients are present.

2) It contains a complex of herb and vegetables that increase the

absorption percent over singular milk thistle.

3) The dose of milk thistle one takes is more like 1500mg (3

tablets or more)

So, the main difference is the lack of acetone residue and full spectrum

synergistic absorption. I believe in it so much that I am negotiating

with them to get some for my LiverFriend capsule formula.

Dear XXXX,

Some people with end stage die. Is he saying that milk thistle caused

them to die or that it did not save their lives? If the former, where

are the studies with the reports of these deaths? If the latter, it may

be a case of too little too late. If someone where only doing milk

thistle with end-stage liver disease, I would say they were under-armed

for the battle. We are battling a dragon that can ravage our whole

system. I would rather use a fire hose than a squirt gun to put out the

fire.

It sounds like you are a little down. I might only have a half-a-cup but

I try to look it as being half FULL rather than half empty.

2000mg is a lot. Is that of an 80% silymarin extract or 2000mg of the

seeds?

Do you know that milk thistle has a half-life of six hours? That means

that 50% of the effectiveness wears off in 6 hours. That is why Dr

Berkson (the triple antioxidant therapy of milk thistle, ala and

selenium) had his patients take milk thistle 3x/day whereas the other

items (ALA and selenium) only twice per day. I go one step further and

drink a mixture with 900 mgs in my herb blend ALL day - from morning to

night and if I wake up in the night. I am trying to develop a time

release milk thistle for my next formula.

Are your enzymes currently high? I will see if I can get the supplier of

BioProtein+ to donate a 3-month supply or split it with me. You would

have to get before and after blood tests though. We have had stubborn

cases go normal or at least lower their enzymes within 3 months. It

seems to take closer to 6 to have an effect on the viral count. I posted

a study on it but it did not have the graphs which show the decline in

numbers quite eloquently. Write me and I will send you the link to

those.

If you don't mind taking powders, I can send you some milk thistle 10%

silymarin to take as a tea. The reason I would want to send you that is

because it is the only milk thistle made without acetone (Yes, Virginia,

acetone, a potential hepato-toxic substance is used to extract milk

thistle) by Bob Brucia, one of the oldest and most respected (behind the

scenes) herbal guy in America. My herbal guru Christopher Hobbs, who

treats HCV patients in his private practice, got him to make it. Since

Chris is the formulator for Rainbow Light, they have it in capsule form

buy I wouldn't be able to give you that. The powder I can so you will

save on your milk thistle expense.

Hang in there.

Many herbalists on a list I'm on have found that just having the milk

thistle seeds, and grinding them fresh to put over foods or in drinks, gives

a much better health result than even a home made tincture with high potency

alcohol--and no acetone. So you might want to try that.
