Guest guest
Hey all, I've had what I thought were allergies affecting my ears for a number of years. At first it was just in the fall, then the spring was added, now it hits at any time. This seems to be particularly bad. I have pressure in my left ear, occasionally there is mild pain. If I close off my right ear, I can barely hear thru the left. If I cover the left, I get a high ringing, and if I move the outside of the ear around while pressing on it, I get what feels like " head warp " . Everything shifts and makes me mildly dizzy. Swallowing also makes the ringing increase. Aside from being uncomfortable, I'm afraid my hearing is going to be permanently damaged. Any ideas?? Thanks. Peace, Laura
Guest guest
I also get pressure in my ears. No one knows why. I made ear drops using organic olive oil, garlic and mullien. Take 2 cloves garlic, 1 cup oil and 2 T. mullein, put in blended and mash up really good. Put in jar and let set of 2 weeks. Strain off and put a drop of oil or 2 in ear. I use cotton to hold it in for while. This takes the pressure off. After the first couple times, you won't need it as often. I have some made up if you need some. Guest guest
have you been checked for inner or middle ear infections/deformities/inflammation? does this happen when you eat certain foods? have you been checked for TMJ? that has to do with grinding/clinching your teeth in your sleep or other teeth/jaw challenges. what is going on with your nose and throat? could there be an ear/nose/throat challenge? i hope i have able to stir some thinking, or at least raise some helpful questions. be well ohandleygirl <ohandleygirl wrote: Hey all, I've had what I thought were allergies affecting my ears for a number of years. Guest guest
Just a thought--have you had your ears cleaned? A wax build up can do the very things you have mentioned. It's easy to clean them yourself at home. Just take some hydrogen peroxide and pour a little in one ear. Leave it in for about 2 minutes, then using an ear irrigator (that can be bought at any store like walmart in their pharmacy section), squirt warm water into the ear as you tilt your head oven the sink to let the water run out. My ear was so full of wax it actually took me doing this 4 times a day for about 4 days before all the wax came out and my hearing cleared and the stuffiness and silght pain stopped. If you think you might have a punctured ear drum then you do NOT want to use the hydrogen. But for most people this is very safe. After your ears are clean, then if you still have some ringing or stuffy feeling you can try ear candles. Guest guest
I've never had it checked thoroughly, because it was always coming and going. Sometimes decongestants help knock it out, but not this time. I hate taking those, anyway. Thanks for the thoughts, I'm getting ready to make an appointment to get it checked. , arneither thomas-neil <ahntdada wrote: > > have you been checked for inner or middle ear infections/deformities/inflammation? does this happen when you eat certain foods? have you been checked for TMJ? that has to do with grinding/clinching your teeth in your sleep or other teeth/jaw challenges. what is going on with your nose and throat? could there be an ear/nose/throat challenge? i hope i have able to stir some thinking, or at least raise some helpful questions. be well > > ohandleygirl <ohandleygirl wrote: Hey all, > I've had what I thought were allergies affecting my ears for a number > of years. Guest guest
Thanks, Susan. I think I'm going to get it checked out today, plus I'll try these drops. I've never used mullein. Is it a liquid from the health food store, or an herb that's dried and added? Does the oil need to be refrigerated afterwards? Thanks! , susan <susan134 wrote: > > I also get pressure in my ears. Guest guest
Hi, I also used to have severe pressure in my left ear for several years. But just 3 days ago I went to a dentist, and she told me that the pressure was caused by a tooth that did not fully emerge. The tooth was at the back of the left side of my mouth and at the lower part of my jaw, and it was partially covered and with meat. According to the doctor, this caused the tooth to press on a nerve which causes pain in the left ear. She took out the tooth with a five minute operation, and what a difference that made, pretty much like the eruption of a pressurized volcano. , " ohandleygirl " <ohandleygirl wrote: > > Thanks, Susan. Guest guest
Went to general practice doc yesterday. He said my ears looked fine, everything looked " fine " gave me a prescription for heavy duty decongestants+expectorant (deemed it URI)and told me to breathe steam as often as I could. If I'm not better by Thursday, he gave me a script for antibiotic, and if that doesn't " cure " me within a week I should go back. Well, I'm doing the steam, increased my fluids and I'm trying the decongestant. I also stopped at the HFS and bought some mullein, but they didn't have the flowers or oil. (I'm in a small upper midwest town)I got a tincture. Can I use that to put in the ear? Think I'll try that cleaning anyway. Can't hurt! Thanks everyone for all the tips and thoughts. Guest guest
Sometimes the root of a problem can lie in the most unexpected places. For example, I never knew or expected that what caused pain in my left ear was a lower back tooth that did not fully emerge, because I did not feel direct pain from that tooth anyway. In fact, I always insisted that the upper back tooth was the root of the problem, until I was convinced otherwise by a really good dentist, for whom I am very thankful. I know that your problem could be different, but it definitely will not hurt to give it a similar try. , " ohandleygirl " <ohandleygirl wrote: > > Went to general practice doc yesterday. Guest guest
Please send me you address privately and I'll send you some oil. Do not use JUST Mullien. I used some last night in my left ear and it's fine today. Susan Everyone is raving about the all-new Mail.
Guest guest
I've had simular problems and completely lost my hearing on the right side. It turned out to be a pinched nerve in my back/neck area. It was cured by a chiropractor after a couple of visits. It still happens once in a while but now I know what causes it & just make an appointment withe either a massage theropist or a chiropractor & it goes away. , " Khalid " <khalidsahawneh wrote: > > Sometimes the root of a problem can lie in the most unexpected > places. Guest guest
I agree about seeing a massage therapist or chiropracter. Also on the off chance that it is impacted ear wax causing the pressure and hearing loss you may want to get in contact with someone who is experienced in ear candleing. My father-in-law had the same symptoms and I ear candled him...One in each ear...after about 2 years of slight hearing loss he's as good as new and wondering why he didn't do it sooner. Just a thought Harry <scotchdrnkr wrote: I've had simular problems and completely lost my hearing on the right side. It turned out to be a pinched nerve in my back/neck area. Guest guest
Going to a massage therapist or chiropracter are great options, but before you do that you may want to find someone who is experienced in ear candleing. You may have impacted ear wax. It's non-evasive and quite effective. (ear candles can be found in most health food stores...I do not recommend letting unexperienced people do this.) My father-in-law has had pressure and hearing loss for over 2 years. I offered to candle him and was able to get about 1 TBS of wax out of each ear (and you must do both ears...otherwise it knocked off your equillibrium.) When I finished he was able to hear and wished he'd have done it sooner. Just a thought. Good luck
