Prescient Daughter??

Hi, all -- just wondering about this: my daughter, aged 10, has been

having dreams of small natural events (earthquake, large power outage,

tornados) that have come to pass (locally) in the day or two following

the dream. It's starting to scare her a little, I think, but I also

think she's a little excited about it. Recent full moon time always

makes my dreams more vivid, I know, and she always remembers her dreams

around the full moon time as well.

I am a Christian, and I have some thoughts on this which will be from that

perspective.

I would tell her first of all that she is NOT the cause of these things.

Realize also they could be symbolic and consulting a dream dictionary might

help. My 16 year old daughter dreamed of hitting a bridge, and the

interpretation was that she hated her job!

However the bible does say that in the " last days " our sons and daughters

would prophesy and our old men would dream dreams. So, she could be actually

prophesying the events like people in the Bible, who got their dreams from

God. ( Daniel, in the Old Testament, had dreams and the gift of interpreting

them. )

It could also mean that she is being exposed to too many news programs and

is dreaming about things she has heard of and fears.

I have dreamed of things that seemed crazy at the time. Like seeing a huge

grey whale pick up my dad's 65 ft. long Party Boat and ride with it on it's

back. The next day, a whale-shark suddenly surfaced parallel to the boat. It

was not Moby Dick, but it was quite long and frightened everyone fishing on

that side of the boat. So instead of being a " prophecy " I would also

characterize it as a " sign. " (Jonah was trying to run away from what God

wanted

him to do.) My dad later confided that he was battling issues and my

interpretation made sense.

So, I do believe that dreams have BOTH natural and spiritual meanings.

Children, being pure of heart, are more inclined to hear the heart of God.

( " And

a little child shall lead them. " )

Encourage her to share her dreams, but not to have them on purpose! This

would burden her and might be upsetting. It would be like using her as a

fortune teller, a practice condemned by God as wrong. And exploitive.

When one in our family has a bad dream we know it is it a sign--a sign to

pray! Perhaps prayer can keep something bad from happening. There is a reason

for everything.

So, you could say, honey let's pray about this thing. And do it until you

have peace.

God be with you
