Guest guest
For the past two days I have been expierencing one migraine after the other. It started with waking up at 8am yesterday due to the pain 1 hour later I expierenced nausea, vomiting, disorentation, dizzyness and aura then a worse headache. This cycle happened 2 more times (a total of 4) yeasterday until we ended up in the ER. They were little help other then a normal CT scan that helped us worry a little less. At 4 am toady I again woke with pain adn 2 more episodes since then. I went to the Chiropractor at 11am and have not had another episode as of yet. I have a 25 year history of migraines but have had very few since my son was born 8 years ago. I have never had anything like this 36 hour period though. I would apprciate any and all suggestions..... Karen
Guest guest
Karen did you know that Migraines can be caused by many things like: Diet - stress - what you eat - rebound migraines which are caused by taking your medicine prescription or OTC ( if you take alot of this to get rid of the headaches while you have it in your body it can make you have another headache from it) Did you know that Dairy products can give you Migraines and some etc things? I have a book on diferent things that can cause Migraines and if you would like me to email you with some of these let me know Here is a suggestion what I was told by my mother in law once and I tried it and it worked. Fill your bathtub with cold water and take your shoes and socks off on one foot only and put your foot in that water - this sends signals to your migraine and it helps ( I tried this and it did help) Mystical Panther , " bkagreen " <thesillygoose wrote: > > For the past two days I have been expierencing one migraine after the > other. Guest guest
Karen, I can only speak for myself when I say that my chiropractor has eliminated my migraines almost instantly! I was having one debilitating headache after another, sometimes twice a week. I had never seen a chiropractor before, and she took one look at my x-rays and said " no wonder you've been getting headaches " ! I've been to her once a week lately(it was twice a week) and no more migraines in 2 months. I do know that stress and exhaustion can trigger migraines as well as food like chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. You have to know what your triggers are so you can combat the terrible headaches! I LOVE my chiropractor, and will continue to go for life! Best of luck to you, Connie in S.C. bkagreen <thesillygoose wrote: For the past two days I have been expierencing one migraine after the other. Guest guest
Karen, Headaches are usually related to liver toxicity. So an herb like Milk Thistle that supports liver function would be very beneficial. If the headaches are vasoconstrictive (feels like the head is being squeezed) then there is too little blood flow to the brain. Remedies to use to enhance circulation are ginkgo or ginger. If the headaches are vasodilative (pounding headaches) blood should be drawn to the digestive tract with bitter herbs. Feverfew can help prevent vasodilative migraines, but needs to be taken proactively. You can also apply a lobelia tincture to the neck and shoulders to help keep the muscles relaxed. If the migraines are stress-induced use Lavender or Valerian. A drop of lavender oil massaged into the temples can be very effective. Guest guest
There is feverfew, an herb that helps migraines, have you tried that? Also lavender oil rubbed into the temple gives temp. relief. You need to find the cause of the migraines before you can find the cure. I get Migraines ever since my neck injury. I believe alot of the problem is stress for me. Feverfew and some relaxing herbs sure helps me. Susan

Guest guest
Thank you everyone for the information. With 25 years of migraines under my belt, I have found most of my triggers (STRESS!!!) foods rarely cause a problem. Nutrasweet (with its host of other huge problems) is not necessarily a trigger for me but if I have had it, other things trigger a migraine more eaisly. I do avoid nutrasweet but was out with friends and all they had was diet soda.....I will drink water next time. Anyway, I also had a glass of red wine and raw onions (onions caused migraines in my Dad I, have not had a problem but it makes it a suspect that night). Separately they would be ok (for me anyway lots of people have trouble with wines though) but the 3 together were a problem. I have not had a food trigger in the past but obviously will have to explore that more now. The big difference this time was the cluster of many migraines. I have not had this in the past. After my son was born 8 years ago I stopped having migraines for almost 6 years with only a few in the last 2 years. Looking back, these over the last few years have been 2-3 together never just 1. It was alarming with 6 in 36 hours though!! I am planning on trying the many great suggestion made on the list. I do not want to have to take Imitrex, but you can guarantee that I will be keeping it on hand!!! One trip to the ER was enough. Also, for those that mentioned rebound...I rarely take any medications even tylenol so this should not be a part of the problem. I will pick up some magensium today!! Thank you again!!! Guest guest
Hello migraine sufferer! I wonder could it be your sinuses. Id get migraines and clusters and that is how I ended up on zyrtec, I didnt even know I had sinus problems, stuffy nose when someone mows their grass, Id get tickles in my throat constantly that would make me cough. A doctor in the emergency room suggested it for me. I tell the doctors every time they start between february- march and end in November or so, when we would get our hard killing frost, winter. But I can get them in the winter too! Especially now the last 3 winters here in Ohio havent been freezing killing frost so now Ive been taking them year round. But I lived my whole life like that, some said I had a predisposition to asthma. Then they kept coming rapid fire, I coudnt work. Doctors suck, they never knew what to do with me. I even had one doctor hand me her prescription pad and pen, and said ok here it is what do you what? , what ever it is you can have it what will work for you? I started crying, Im not a drug addict, I said, I just keep having problems with migraines, Im a single parent and I have to be at work. Then I went to a pain center and he loaded me up on so many drugs that I had to take a test to see if I could remeber when to take them. THis helped some, because they helped me to learn the different kinds of headaches I was having and they could be severe but not all were migraines. Tension, sugar, caffeine and pr- menstrual. But one of there medications, made my arm go numb for days and I couldnt work, I cut hair. He called me in and had some funky machine sitting there he was going to use on me. But after talking to me he said there was no way I could be having migraines as bad as I was saying, because and get this, I still had my job. Everyone else that claimed to have them this bad was unemployed. I said my boss is gay and very understanding, I do hair, I just reschedule everyone, I dont work on an assembly line. Not that its any of your business. So I told my boss I would know what was wrong with me after this doc appt. and Id could get back to work. Not! He went on to tell me, that I was addicted to the drugs he had given me. WHich I stopped immediately when my arm lost consciousness-numb. Then I stood up crying and told him I was getting another migraine and that he was causing it! ANd that I would not pay his bill, dont bother sending one. Anyway I have done blockers and immetex nose spray was good in an emergency. But this sinus med has given me the best relief. That and ephedra, when I can find it. Yum Ephedra, I told my regular doc this was the best thing for my sinuses and migraines, even compared to what he could give me. IT cleared my sinuses all the way up and down and no foggy headed ness at all. I could think clear as a bell, where most meds for migraine slow you down or knock me out completely. Zyrtec And my headaches have cut down 90%% since I started taking them. Its like a miraculous cure. I dont like to take medicines, but migraines are the worst, you never know when it will strike or where, or who will be with you. Kids, driving, in the middle of work. You cant see, your head is pounding! The other 10% is excercise and eating right and stress. For me anyway. good luck! Guest guest
Ive been getting migraines since I was 9 years old. And I ate very healthily, my parents are health food fanatics, we never shopped at grocery stores growing up only health food stores. I have used all that you have suggested, it will calm, but its not a remedy. I think stress and not eating at all are a huge factor and not enough sleep too! We tend to hide our stress as women, we dont let it show. I was so calm, the picture of calm on the outside but on the inside, I can be a nervous wreck. I had a very stressful childhood growing up. And of the migraine sufferers Ive asked this is a common thread too! Dysfunction in the home, too stressed out to eat or digest or rest properly. Even though they were healthfood fanatics, they fought terribly. Tina mnewport wrote: Karen, Headaches are usually related to liver toxicity. Guest guest
In a case like this, where migraines are emotional based, EFT can work wonders. Also, even if you are eating healthy foods, you MUST be eliminating twice a day. If not, then you need a good colon cleanse. Plus, many migraines are food allergies. My friend had migraines for years and no doctor could help her. Finally they were getting so bad that she'd go blind and loose time. One doctor, after all the MRIs and other tests asked her if she'd ever had allergy tests. She said no, that no one had even suggested such a thing. Turns out she's highly allergic to wheat (not gluten, just wheat), corn and any type of corn derivative--which is hidden in almost all store foods and restaurant foods--and milk and unfermented dairy products like hard cheese. Once she eliminated them she has been migraine free for over 10 years now. The allergy can be even to " healthy " foods. Each person is different. Muscle testing each thing you put into your mouth is a much cheaper way than what she did--going to an allergy specialist and paying for allergy tests. samala Renee ---- Ive been getting migraines since I was 9 years old. Guest guest
I get a signal when I get migraines, I start to lose vision, and when that happens I immediately take Feverfew extract and a short time after that an extract of Dr. Christopher's called Nerve. I may get a headache, but the loss of vision is restored quickly, and the headache is very dull & tolerable, and I do not need to take any type of medication. I keep up the Feverfew and the Nerve until I am free of any symptoms. This does not go to the cause of the problem, but does help with the symptoms.
