I'll try to get you a couple useful folks to work with in the morning. Do you

have a UN or WHO contact there? By the wy, are you a physician, counselor,

therapist?? Are you treating patients or assessing the situation to formulate

a strategy? Perhaps a little of both?

 

You said that you are going to be there for one week. Have you determined

what you are hoping to accomplish in this week or is this mostly a " scouting

mission " ? Obviously, we're looking at some fairly long term issues here. But

that doesn't mean that a lot of help cannot be given even in this one week.

 

Would you like me to assess any individual cases? I can certainly do that.

Also, I'll need a name to give anyone that I can line up to help. If you wish,

certainly feel free to do that " off-list " , as it were.

 

What's the available medical staff, if any? Also, is this an individually

motivated trip or are you there under the auspices of any organization?

 

I ask these things to determine how best to get you the most useful help in

the shortest time period.

 

Also, how are you fixed for overall communications? Are there telephone

numbers, etc.? Also, how's the overall feeling there if we get you some help

from places like vatican health services and the like? There are a couple of

groups like that who can oftentimes throw a tremendous amount of resources as a

problem like this in a hurry. I'm also going to contact a few of the

university med centers to see what resources they can throw into this quickly.

 

I can certainly get a few other physicians to help out as best we can.

 

Please keep me posted on what you're seeing and anything you can think of that

you need.

OK, in addition to the information I asked for in the email that follows, I need

to know what area you are in.

 

WHO has mobilized specific hospitals for response. If you let me know where you

are, we'll have you set up with the closest hospital.
