You can always do Yoga, people of all sizes, ages, abilities can do something,

but it is best to do so with a teacher and in my lineage, Krishnamacharya, we

teach to the individual. I may be able reccommend a teacher in your area.

Eat 5-6 mini meals a day (spaced about 2-3 hours apart); drink lots of ice

cold water; do cardio for about 35 minutes a day and make sure you are

working between 70%-85% of your maximum heart rate. Introduce weight lifting

every other day when you are ready. Muscle burns more calories, which means

you can eat more : )

Lots of great people, excellent articles, and ways to help you get healthier

: )

You can do it!

Hello!

So, what have you tried so far? Losing weight is the hardest thing to do

isn't it? I bet it's easier to kick heroine! LOL! Sadly, there is no easy fix

for weight loss.

All I can do is tell you what works for me when the scale starts creeping

upward. Firstly, eat breakfast. Try some healthy cereal or oatmeal like Kashi

brand; studies have shown that people who eat breakfast cereal are healthier in

general.

Secondly, you've got to restrict sugar intake. Not only is it fattening, but

detrimental to overall health and mood. I'm not saying to use sugar substitutes

either, they are ALL an unhealthy choice. Although I have been doing some

reading on xylitol which is a plant based sweetener that's comparable to sugar

in sweetness. It's what's found in raspberries and other fruits. I haven't

tried it yet, but it's actually GOOD for your body and builds stronger bones and

promotes healthy teeth!

Check out this link to learn more: http://www.laleva.cc/food/xylitol.html

So, now you are eating a smart breakfast and limiting sugar to a minimum, next

you've got to find an activity to get you moving that you ENJOY! If you don't

enjoy it, you won't keep it up. I love to walk and do simple floor exercises

like stretching, push-ups, sit-ups, and breathing exercises. No equipment or

gym membership needed! If you don't have a good amount of time to exercise,

that's okay, short bursts of exercise throughout the day are FINE. I have 3

kids so needless to say, my time is limited. Even walking my dog makes me feel

good b/c I'm out there moving.

Don't obsess over carbs or any other elimination diet. Just ask yourself

before you eat something " Is this beneficial to my body? " If the answer is no,

make another choice.

DRINK WATER THROUGHOUT THE DAY!

Don't deprive yourself if you want something unhealthy, but only have a

*taste* instead of going nuts.

Meditation, yoga and massage are all good for the psyche as well as having

positive physiological effects. Find someone whose company you enjoy to get

involved in activities with you. Go walking in the park, or rollerskating, or

for a leisurely bike ride.

Tell yourself that you DESERVE to be in good health, and don't fixate on the

weight. When you get a positive mindset, the weight will naturally come off.

Lastly, don't keep junk food in the house; it's impossible to reach for it if

it's not there in the first place. Instead, keep better choices on hand like

walnuts, pumpkin seeds, ready-made salad, cut up fruit and veggie pieces.

You can do it b/c you're worth it and you deserve to be healthy not just

" thin " . If you feel that you are making positive choices and are MOVING a lot

your body will respond.

I hope this is the sort of advice you where looking for b/c it's the best I

could give!

~All the Best,

Connie

Connie - I thought I would throw in here that Stevia is also a healthy sugar

alternative. It's ALL natural and actually works too. You can find it at

most health food stores and Whole Foods carries it as well.

I have Stevia, and it's okay .. tho Im not a huge fan. I think when you

start eating properly, you will not crave sugary things as much. Im open to

being wrong tho ;)
