Guest guest
Hi, I'm new. I'm a 21-year-old female and seem to be developing Irritable Bowel Syndrome and would like to ask what people on this forum have to say about it. Something tells me the traditional medicine route is not all there is--they just tell you it's incurable and give you drugs that make you just as miserable in a different way. I believe I'm meant to find a way I can be healed; one day after praying about it, I opened my Bible and the first verse I read was Jesus telling a man to be healed and I believe that was to me, and I'm looking for the way for it to happen (because it sure isn't happening by itself). I hope all this doesn't sound totally wacky or anything... I know if I'm looking at health in a spiritual way, the first thing everyone says about IBS is that it's anxiety-related, but I'm puzzled about that because I think this year over which it's been developing has been in other ways expansive and peaceful (though I've done a lot of traveling and I know that added to it), and I see no particular short-term relation either. I'm a student on an extreme budget and if anyone could recommend things I could do at home, that would help. (I've already found peppermint in the archives.) I'm anxious to try acupuncture and hypnotherapy but I won't for a while have money for full treatments of those kinds. A specific question: my IBS is mostly constipation-based and I've always found caffeine and alcohol to help with that, but I've seen on some websites that caffeine and alcohol are supposed to be harmful. Does this mean they help in the short-term but harm in the long-term, or is this advice for diarrhea-based IBS? Can anyone help me here? Thank you so much and God bless you all, Bonnie McClure

Guest guest
I know two things: A- We are what we eat B- We carry around things in our cells. Work on diet (I should take my own advise there) and also clear out the chakras.....especially the first three. That is a start. And I am sure you will get many other great ideas from the group. They are a very knowledgable group. Much love, Lorain cry_of_the_sedge <cry_of_the_sedge 2006/08/19 Sat AM 01:59:20 CDT IBS Hi, I'm new. Can anyone help me here? < You know the best piece of advise I can give you is to research. Just start researching everything there is natural about curing/managing IBS. I've always found the best way to fix something is to learn about it; experiment for yourself what works and what doesn't work Researching has also helped me to find the best way to fix something for my body, " my way " . Because not everything works the same for all. Many moons ago I had some digestive issues and after much research and trying this and trying that I found that the greens formulas work best in keeping my digestive system working good. I started out using Garden of Life products, still use them to this day. But there are other green products out there too, which are just as good-- it all depends on what you prefer. Another little tidbit: the owner of Garden of Life started his company because of many digestive issues he was suffering from. If you go to the website it tells all about his story . Very interesting. _www.GardenofLife.com_ (http://www.GardenofLife.com) Hope this helps to you finding your own path. Dawn
Guest guest
Hi, sorry to hear you appear to have IBS. I am 32 and have been suffering since I was 16. I started out by going down the road of medicinal drugs. They did absolutely nothing. The doctors also told me a high fibre diet, now this does work for some, but not me, with me it just made a large blockage which would last a few days then I would start vomiting instead! I think it is one of those things that is trial and error. The main thing to remember is that stress triggers it. It amuses my family how in a time of crisis or upset I end up locked in the bathroom! Therefore, do anything which keeps you calm, be it yoga, something therapeutic like something arty, painting or knitting or cross stitch etc or reading. Another thing I had read was supposed to help and have been doing it for a year is take those pro-biotic drinks. I have taken one each morning since last year and they really work. I have also been doing Reiki for almost a year now, and I have to say that that has helped a lot too as it not only heals and helps with the pain relief, it also relaxes me a lot. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie. You might want to try this--it's free :-) and easy and it regulates constipation so that you have normal bowel movements every day. There's a great little practice that I leaned. It's called Dahn Hak and it's part of a full protocol (that includes the cleanses and eating certain foods) that is from Asia and has cured every known disease. This part of Dahn Hak feels soooo nice, a great way to start the day. The lady I learned from was, well, I forget now what country she was from. She was very ill and the doctors couldn't help her. Someone told her to go to a Dahn Hak place and she did. Within weeks she was better and within months she was cured and loved it so much she became a Dahn Hak instructor. Anyway, I later learned from a Chinese Chi Gong master that the Chinese do this every morning, and have for centuries. He said when the tourists get up in the morning they see the Chinese people doing tai chi, but that's because the government tells the people to do that because it looks good to foreigners, but before they do the tai chi, super early in the morning they do their traditional method which has another name, but is just like Dahn Hak!! Grandmothers do it to the babies even and he said that they usually do it twice a day--morning and night. And right after they do this they drink a glass of warm water. Nothing in it, just warm water. The method is this--you start by patting your left shoulder with your right hand. Not super hard, but you do want to feel it. You pat all the way down your arm to your finger tips, back up, back down and on when you start back up, this time you pat on the underneath of your arm all the way up to your arm pit. Then you go back down on the underneath and come back up on the underside. When you come up for the second time from the underside you begin slapping your chest. Do this with both hands, slapping across from left to right and when you get to the right shoulder you then start down your right arm with your left hand. Go down, back up, down and up this time on the bottom, back down and back up When you reach your armpit the second time you start slapping your chest again with both hands. Slowly go down your chest and abdomen. At your stomach area you are slapping, (this whole time it's been in a moderate rhythm) and you stay there for about a minute, then you still stay there another minute but start slowing your rhythm down slower and slower till you stop. Then you rub your hands clockwise around your stomach for one or two minutes. (this is to stimulate your bowels. If a person has diarrhea then they would go counter-clockwise) After the minute is up you begin slowly slapping your stomach till you pick your original rhythm back up, then you move down the front of both legs Go all the way down to your toes. The Chinese also slap the bottom of their feet, but my first instructor didn't say to do that. Then you move your hands to the outsides of your legs and slap up to your waist, then slap around till you get back in front of your legs but now you go to the insides of your legs and slap back down to the ankles. From there you move your hands to the back of your ankles and slap going back up your legs. Go as high as you can onto your kidneys and back. When you can't go any higher, you move your hands to the back of your neck and start gently slapping there up the top of your head and down onto your face and neck. And then you're done! and it feels soooo good and is so good for you. It stimulates the blood, your organs, your immune system. And at most it takes 10 minutes. Do this with the intent of pure health, and LOVE your body as you do it. You can slap longer at any area that is giving you trouble and say " I love my but, I love my breasts, I love my stomach). Dahn Hak is all about loving yourself. Just be sure to cover all parts of your body with the slapping. This stimulates your blood, your immune system, your organs--everything!! samala Renee ---- A specific question: my IBS is mostly constipation-based and I've always found caffeine and alcohol to help with that, but I've seen on some websites that caffeine and alcohol are supposed to be harmful. Guest guest
Hi, I suggest that you go online and find the EFT website. Download their free manual and follow the instructions. EFT is a method of tapping various points on the body (i.e. face, hand, upper body) to open the energy meridians while focusing on your particular problem. I have never had such fast relief from pain in my life as I did when I tried this method. In four days I went from using a cane or walker to get around to walking without pain. So, we started using it on my husband who has IBS and suffers with pain. It immediately began to ease his pain also. He is gluten intolerant and we kept him on his gluten free diet but made no other changes other than the EFT therapy. The results were astounding. I highly recommend this therapy for anyone with pain, illness or disease, phobias or fears and other problems.
