Guest guest
When we saw the naturopath, he sent us home with a Taurine supplement for my 4 year old son. I wonder if this is, in part, supposed to be helpful with his behavior of holding his poo-poo? Dr. Adkin's vitanutrient solutions book lists this indirectly as a potential for this supplement, but I wondered if anyone knew for sure? BTW my 4 year old is just starting to be fully potty trained (PDD issues) and will poop in the potty after holding it for several days sometimes. I am trying to understand his motivation for " holding it " and have come to 3 possibilities: pain (discomfort from holding it so long it is hard to pass), control (i.e. of body function), and simply not wanting to " loose " a piece of himself...he can't say why he won't go, just assumes this hunched-over at the waist, arched- down back posture that he stays in until the sensation passes and when I suggest using the potty he'll say " no poo-poo in the potty. " I actually was hopeful that the naturaopath would let us talk, in detail about this...because mom (grandma to him )and I both had issues as children ( I still wait a few minutes before I go)...so maybe he comes by it honest. Anyway, I had been listening to some homeopathic talks (and the naturopath does some homeopathy) and got the idea that maybe he needed some sort of remedie for this and was hopeful about working towards a constitutional remedie in general. Now I feel lost again. Is constitutional work done with kids? What age can they start? Are there any pros / cons? Anyone with other suggestions (i.e. am I just a crazy mom 'cause this is something he'll outgrow)? I would be greatful for ANY information anyone want to share. Thanks, Judy nurse and mom in Ohio
Guest guest
Dear Judy, You have my sympathy. It is hard enough to raise " normal " kids. Good onya for looking into the natural way. There is so much hope! Have you heard of Jean Lash, the mother who cured her son's PDD?
