I am doing a term paper on massage for asmthma and I am having problems finding information. Can anyone help me with this. Please!!!! Guest guest Posted August 5, 2006 Report Share Posted August 5, 2006 There was study donne at the University of Miami with children who have asthma showing very positive results with nightly 20 minute massages on upper back and chest lowering both the occurrence and severity of attacks. If you goole any of these researchers and look up that Journal of Pediatrics article, I'll be you'll find all kinds of useful info. BTW, how many sources do you need for your paper? Mary Asthma This study showed positive effects of parents massaging their asthmatic children including increased peak air flow, improved pulmonary functions, less anxiety and reduced stress hormone (cortisol) in the children. Parental anxiety also decreased. Field, T., Henteleff, T., Hernandez-Reif M., Martinez, E., Mavunda, K., Kuhn C., & Schanberg S. (1998).
