Guest guest
Hi, all -- been an avid reader for a wee while... both my husband and I developed tiny little skin tags (for lack of a better description) during a period of extreme stress about 4 years ago. None is much larger than the point of your average ball point pen, and none really gets in the way of anything, but they are odd. Mostly they occurred in the underarm area, and I have just on the inside of my elbow. What are they, why did they happen and they anything to worry about? My body has always done weird things with stress, and just having come through some more myself, I've noticed that a couple more have popped under my right arm, and one of the older ones has gotten a little larger. Thanks in advice for any light anyone can shed on this. Regards Andrea NZ
Guest guest
Hello, I felt I had to respond, I go to a dermatologist and have skin tags also. I have had several snipped and burned, (no scarring) and I was told it is sun damage, and they also are inherited. My two great aunts necks were full of skin tags, my mother has them in different areas, she was not a sun worshiper at all, which leads me to believe they are more inherited. Guest guest
Hi, allow me to jump in if I may. I read someplace that skin tags are excess skin cells and that frequent scrubbing of prone areas will keep them at bay. Maybe regular scrubs and toners and keeping the area dry would help. I am not a dermatologist, but I have had them form under my arm and also between my legs. They will enlarge if not clipped and grow painfully. My husband removed one by using solution from having ears pierced, and then a sterilized nail clipper. There was no way I could bear doing it myself. I don't know how to burn them, but there is an OTC product that will freeze warts. I tried using aloe on them but to no effect that I could tell. I think they have a blood supply so if there were many I would think that a skin doctor would have to remove them. I am interested in this topic, too, and will follow this thread. Thank you for starting it Athena
Guest guest
I have applied lavender essential oil to my skin tags. Over time, they turn black and then fall off. Lavender also helps me with stress just by inhaling it or by applying it to my temples and the back of my neck. I hope this helps. Sherry L.
