Here is another natural mosquito repellent.

I actually have it brewing.

Thanks for reminding me to put a spritz bottle

on the shopping list.

We are off on an RV trip to the North in

about 10 days, so we'll have plenty of opportunity

to test it out!

Credit for this recipe goes to Washington herbalist

Ann Lovejoy.

Catnip Mosquito spritz

Makes about 3 cups

2 cups catnip, stemmed

3-4 cups mild rice vinegar

Rinse herbs, roll lightly with a rolling pin, then

place them in a clean quart jar and cover with vinegar.

Seal Jar and store in dark cupboard for two weeks.

Shake jar slightly daily.

Strain into a clean jar, seal and refrigerate for up to

6 months unused.

To use, spritz on exposed skin and around outdoor

dining area.

Here are some tips for coping with wasp or bee stings.

I have used them all except for the yarrow, just read

about that one. They work!

(Of course you need your medical kit if you are hypo-allergic)

Plantain

Chew it up a bit. Saliva enzymes activate certain properties.

Spread the green gloop on the bite.

Yarrow

Same as plantain. I just learned this one from Idaho wildcrafter

and herbalist Darcy Williamson. She recommends swallowing

the yarrow juice in your mouth for best results. That might go

for the plantain too.

Baking Soda

Mix with a bit of water and apply paste to bite.

Sangre de Drago

The local herbs work like a charm but you may not always

have them handy.

A one-ounce squeeze bottle of this miracle from the Amazon

fits into the smallest purse or pack.

Apply a drop straight from the bottle. I used it on a wasp sting

in the sensitive skin right under the eye. That hurt!

Relief from pain and swelling was instant.

Other uses for Sangre de Drago, the first-aid kit in a bottle:

a.. Sangre de Drago stops bleeding, inhibits pain, and promotes wound

healing.

b.. Sangre de Drago is anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic,

anti-inflammatory.

c.. Sangre de Drago is used for stomach and intestinal trouble, even

in cholera epidemics.

d.. Sangre de Drago makes a great tooth cleaner. Gums heal and

tighten.

e.. Sangre de Drago in a facial tightens, regenerates and firms the

skin.

f.. Sangre de Drago is a rich source of proanthocyanidins, aka

pycnogenols.
