I'm new to the group and would love any feedback. I am also a a member of otehr

stuttering groups but thought I might inquire here too

My son who is 14 stutters, as his dad did. My husband however, grew out of his

speech

problems by the time he was 12.

I make sure my son has a good breakfast, I can't control what he eats at school(

why do they

serve junk to kids at school?) and dinner, very balanced, organic when possible

and nothing

out of a box or freezer.

He also takes True Hope vvitamins for his learning disability ( I do not sell

this product, I do

highly recomend it) A psychiatrist who saw him suggested true hope because he

could not

prescribe him ritalin becausae of his speech ( thank god we didn't go that

route.

Also he takes fish oil 4grams daily. Does anyone have any suggesions about his

stuttering.He

is a covert stutteror and actually has his own online radio blog but still would

like to be

stutter free. Thanks in advance. Dot

Hi Dot,

This is a long shot but when I was heavily involved with selling

magnets, one man who was walking with a cane (had ME) and stuttering

bought some magnets from my company. We were living in different

countries so after that initial contact we just spoke on the phone.

Since he was on a pension he only bought one item at a time. The

second thing he bought was a magnetic braclet and oddly enough I

noticed on the phone that he didn't stutter anymore. I can't

remember which arm he wore it on though and I've lost contact with

him. He also started public speaking again after that.

Magnetic necklaces (chains in the case of teenage boys!) have helped

some with Tourettes. As I said, it's a long shot and what works for

one may not work the same way for another.

EFT (download free manual at www.emofree.com) may be another

solution.

Yes they serve junk at school but you can control it!!! You have

the power to make him a healthy, tasty lunch every day!! You can

also work on a committe to help the school to serve better meals.

Hello Dot,

I hope all is well for you and your family in every realm of life. I too

used to stutter when I was a kid, though I don't know how I grew out of it,

I think I have a very workable solution for you. I anticipate what doctors

you've gone to have checked him physically, as in whether he has a knot in

his tongue, a maladjusted palate or throat and such?

Barring any such factors, and sometimes inclusive of them as well, the

musculature in his midsection, from the belly through the throat can be

worked on, as well as the spinal suggestion mentioned earlier. For example,

while many of us notice our tongue ranges from near the jaw hinges forward

towards our lips and teeth, it actually goes much deeper into the torso.

Just check with a slaughter house some time and see for yourself how deeply

the tongue is rooted into the " disassembled " livestock. Internal massage of

this muscle, supposedly the second strongest in the human body, is supported

by surrounding tissues and musculature running parallel and nearly parallel

to the tongue along its deep journey into the torso.

These same muscles and sinews are essential for both communicating and,

glandularly, self-confidence. While asanas are not prescribed until the

onset of puberty, as they are actually at most glandular exercises first,

and musculo-skeletal exercises secondarily, they can lend beneficence to us

before puberty as well, particularly in prescribed cases.

Through daily exercises, both a crunching forth of the hips, torso, neck and

head, and stretching from side to side will so massage this inner area,

foster maximum refreshment for the glands and organs along this tract, and

stretch the spine for its maximum expressive capabilities. I've both

stuttered, been bashful and had public speaking difficulties, until I

started practicing yoga asanas twice a day 32 years ago. I've witnessed,

both in me and in hundreds of others practicing yoga how it positively

affects the body's, as well as the mind's, greater capacity to function. In

fact, while I got a cold from 1-3 times a year every year before practicing

yoga, I have had only 5 colds or flu in those 32 years, and been sick in any

other way fewer than 10 times.

Those resonating peculiar feelings you get before getting a sore throat,

just at its onset are often quelled before they really get started by doing

asanas, preferably twice a day, for that area of the chest, throat and head

are richly massaged and consequently those " cold " -center areas of the body

are healed before such transient diseases can manifest to challenge our

health.

The bisymmetric motions of most asanas also greatly facilitates both the

body, brain and mind so that each side co-facilitates the other side of the

body's duties, such as moving lymph from side to side, cross-relating

neurology, including having one side of the brain contribute to the other

side's functionality and lend secondary support, something seen far less in

people who do not practice asanas or similar exercises. People with

" one-side-of-brain " mind-sets often discover new talents resulting from

doing the bi-symmetrical asanas, discover new venues for discovering and

expressing themselves, not to mention enhanced intelligence.

While asanas are prescribed specifically for each person's unique mind-set,

physiology and physical capabilities, if your son has no problems with his

body in relation to these movments, I'd recommend each of these asanas to

start until more specific prescription can be done for him:

1. Billows pose

2. Bow pose

3. Full head-to-knee

4. Twist

5. Hare

I've attached images for you to view, I can send descriptions of how and how

long to do them if you truly want to make a difference for your precious

life-spring. :-)

Together these awaken the lymph to move more freely and massage the inner

organs and glands to prepare the " conception vessel " in the center of the

front of the body to both preserve life force, invigorate it gently and

flourish his wellbeing in his continued growth. These are best done in the

sequence shown above.

Yoga asanas and yoga generally are far more substantial than the trendy

flauntulosis of the consumptionistic entertainment pablum of conspicuous

consumption. Millions of people over many thousands of years have been

doing and developing this to both preserve their humanity, cultivate their

physico-psycho-spiritual parallelism and have actually furthered human

evolution from CroMagnon to the thresholds we've reached today and are soon

to launch forth in human evolution as the Earth rapidly changes and

predatious paradigms are rent asunder, many within our own lifetimes, and

certainly within our children's lifetime. Those practicing yoga will be

among those who will endure these changes far greater than the general

populace. The people we love and imbue with moral essence deserve to

include this practice in the lives of their loves.

I'm always available for you when you have any questions.

The main Yaga Asana to cure this is Singhasana. This

may be practiced alongwith O-karasana, A-karasana,

O-A-karasana. All praticed serially with Singhasana

done last will take about 5 minutes and are very

effective.

Morning,

Hope you don't mind me chipping in after just arriving and all. In

my experience both of being a stutterer in my youth and having a few

people with this problem as clients I have found that ametuer

dramatics works wonders. I don't mean ad libbing, thats a disaster

waiting to happen. But if you can get hold of some simple plays in

two books, sit down and just read to each other, I am sure you will

notice that your son hardly stutters at all during reading. When you

are both comfortable with this (takes a while as it is a little

weird) start going for the drama aspect vocally, then over time get

some movement in there, and eventually try and memorise the lines.

Once you have all these things the confidene factor goes through the

roof and although your son might approach speech as a dramatic

production for a while i am confident you would see a drastic

improvement in his overall dialouge. just dont do hitch hikers guide

to the galaxy...lol

Hi take a look at the www.emofree.com website. Part of the problem

is the embarassment or shame ofthe problem which only makes matters

worse. This is an amazing technique you can do on yourself, your

family memebers can learn it easily and you can even " tap " on

yourself for them and they will experience relief. it's pretty

amazing.
