Guest guest
Wed May 17, 2006 9:53pm(PDT) Question about therapy session... So I guess my question is: 1) is this a big deal or something I should be concerned about? 2) If something (G-d forbid) was to happen during the session, how should I handle it? I think the first thing you should look at is what is making this a big deal for you. Your body responds the way it responds . An osteopath is a trained physician - not a male or a female whose job it is to arouse you. You may get aroused by looking at linoleum ( if you are 18 or younger haha) does that mean you should stop w alking on floors? First look to your intentionality and your gestalt around getting aroused. As my pappy said- " Just because I'm wearing shoes- doesn't mean im walking anywhere " To the person who suggested you pleasure yourself- its not about the pleasure syndrome this is not sex this is a relaxation response and a triggering of autonomic nervous system responses plain and simple. They get triggered by all kinds of things- are you going to avoid chipmunks if you get an erection while looking at one?- OR masturbate repeatedly if you happen to find yourself surrounded by chipmunks? I think not. Resolve to look at your relationship to your sensuality and sexuality and see if you can make a distinction. Any man in the world can be arrested for possession of rape tools. Not many rape. I guess I'm also worried that by being uptight and self conscious about getting aroused - and the therapist noticing it - I'm taking away from the therapy for my neck, which I what I'm there to get. That is the piece you need to get comfortable with. Any body worker knows that people occasionally get aroused and it often has nothing to do with them. Just exactly what embarrasses you - that a doctor knows that males have penises that sometimes stretch? 3) In which case, should I find another therapist - perhaps the guy I was seeing before? Or does she realize what is going on when I'm shaking and maybe is just being professional about the whole thing? What do you want from your doctor - to get some relief from your pain or to see if she can slip you a hand job on the side? IF you can muddle through your own intentionality around this it will all come out clean. Very rarely does this have anything to do with the doctor, and if she is otherwise the most effective player in helping your neck whey would you want to go to anyone else?- to save you some mild embarrassment? I would say you have a few things to look at, and to look at avoiding these situations is not the right place to start- my .02$ worth. Guest guest
Hi, Could people try to remember to trim their responses so that the digests don't get what seems like needless repeats of previously posted messages. A few lines of the message and ... Seems to get the thought through about which thread we are following. Thanks for the help Richard
