Guest guest
I understand the concerns there Michele! Unfortunately the Insurance companies will not recognize Massage Therapy as a viable alternative to health care and healing, really makes you wonder who's financing the insurance companies, us or the Pharmaceutical firms..... One of these days we'll get them to catch up to the 21st century with the rest of us! They thought it was my heart or lungs. I couldn’t breathe since my stomach was sitting above my diaphragm. After I finally gave up on the doctors and went to a natural health practitioner, the NHP told me about massage therapy. I went and WOW! For the first time in several months, I could take a deep breath. I lost almost 45 pounds before my stomach was pulled down and I could then start eating and breathing again. So to the massage therapists out there, Thank you and God bless. Guest guest
I thought I wanted insurance coverage also. I read an article in a recent issue of Massage Magazine, written by one of its own. She pointed out the downside of accepting insurance. One is the tremendous amount of paperwork involved, then the follow up when they haven't paid, or the forms were filled out improperly, or on and on. That results in fewer hours available to see clients, so the hourly rate will need to be raised to reach the same net amount. She also mentioned that insurance companies enjoy saying how many visits they'll pay for, which then might cause the client to stop coming before full resolution. Or maybe they'll get to the place where they pay only certain therapists, based on whatever grounds, much the way they do HMOs. She mentioned several other reasons, but after reading that, I thought I'd rather not have the insurance company dictate, and would rather be in charge of my own.
