Guest guest
Greetings... I went to the ER with a backache a few weeks ago...which turned out to be...so they said...a bladder infection...that had ran up into my kidneys...and this they treated with Cipro. This is when the real trouble started. The back pain was excrutiating and the upper abdominal pain just as bad. Finally an ER doc set up <after the third time> an ultra sound. They found nothing abnormal...no kidney stones, gall stones..no upper abdominal abnormalities. But he told me to stop taking the Cipro....and even though <he says> this isn't a normal side effect....the only time HE ever took Cipro it gave him such pain he never took it again. Has anyone else had this problem with it? I'm not so sure that isn't what caused this pain to worsen...even though...I stopped taking it over a week ago...I don't know how long it would take it to get out of your system if that were the case....or what kind of effects <bad> it might have ...even though its supposed to be relatively safe. My physician says I could have a diseased gall bladder or one that is all sludged up and just won't work....but we won't know for sure until....they do the HDIA <sp?> scan on the 13th. But if it is what he thinks it is...surgery would be the only option. Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing. Any suggestions? Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated. I hate the thought of having to have surgery if it is the gall bladder. Blessings Rain
Guest guest
If it were me, I would try rubbing the essential oils, frankincense and tea tree oil over the areas alternatively. Then I would soak in a hot bathtub to drive the oils in. I have had some pain in those areas and that has worked for me. Hope this helps and you feel better soon. Sherry L. Guest guest
Hi Rain, I had a problem with Cipro - when I lived in FL, my family Dr. gave it to me for an infection. (he even said that it was safe as I have lots of medication allergies) About 15-20 minutes after I'd taken the " first " pill, my face, mouth and throat swelled up and I was literally choking! My husband helped me out to the car and (we'd just moved to FL), and drove to where he thought the ER was - and got lost! Meanwhile, I'm turning blue! He found the ER by mistake and believe me, I didn't have to wait my turn - what the Dr. there did and it worked extremely fast was to give me prednisone which worked like a charm, though I know it's not good for you. I read up on this drug (Cipro) later and this is not an uncommon reaction. When I got home as I was still sick, I decided to keep to natural remedies. Sage tea 2-3 times a day and Oregano (vulgare) hydrosol (10%) in anything I could drink it in - to me, cold drinks weren't so bad - this I did once a day. And got better in about 3 days. The frankinsence and Myrhh essential oils are a good idea also, though tea tree (for me), I have to dilute a LOT and being an aromatherapist I always dilute almost any oils, especially when applying to an area the size of your tummy; as you can also get reactions from those as they're so much stronger than their herbal counterparts.
