Hi Jesica,

What worked for me, finally, was truly wanting to stop. It got to the

point that I was buying cheap no-name cigarettes and this was even

before the $6.00 pack (NYC). I got tired of going outside(even out of

my own home) to smoke and getting nasty looks from people who didn't

smoke and this was before no smoking in restaurants, bars, airports,

casinos etc. I stopped many times before for a couple of months at a

time but I never truly wanted to stop. So over 6 years ago (Jan 10,

2000 to be exact)I finally had enough of waking up with a froggy

throat and stinky breathe and stinky clothing and went for a couple of

accupuncture treatments. The MD was a wonderful woman who told me that

since I had smoked for such a long time I most likely would always

have urges to smoke. So she told me just ignore the urge by doing

something for the 3-5 minutes and get on with my new and better life

and not to dwell on it! Sure it is not easy, I still get urges and

sometimes at the weirdest moments but I think of her words and get

busy for those minutes-pushing the urge out of my mind one day at a

time. You can do it if you really want to. Go for it!!!!!!

Wishing you success,

Terry
