Guest guest
A 76 year old person/patient suffering from rash due to winter of U.S. (which he is not used to as he is Indian) & also due to constipation & sleeplessness. Initially rash was only on face & hands; but now its appearing all over body in the form of red patches/scales. Can somebody suggest Alternative Medicines? Thanks in Advance, Parag. Guest guest
Hi Parag, Winter rash. Those of us who live in New England like we do, are having a particularly bad year of it. Between the cold air of winter and the dry heat in the house, it feels like we almost don't have a chance! Here are some things we do each winter. I make all our own potpourris and always have one going in each room - between the herbs, essential oils and the humidity (or if you don't have the herbs, etc.), put some water in a crock pot and let it go with the top " off " . It will put much needed moisture in the air. Also, drink lots of water. Pure oatmeal soap is very good for dry, cracked and itchy skin. Store bought, perfumed and deodorizing soaps will just dry the skin out more, and lead to worse itching and dryer skin. You can also use oils on his skin like extra-virgin olive oil, sweet almond oil, or any good vegetable oil. Shea butter has also helped here as has fractionated coconut oil. For the shea butter, there is a nice whipped shea recipe that's pretty easy to make, I can e-mail you off-list if you want my recipe.
