Guest guest
Hi Wayne, I too, am new to the group. I am so sorry you had to go through Katrina. And yes, you are most definitely a survivor or else you may not have come back as many didn't. Good for you - home is still home, and I'll be glad to lend any support that I can. I'm far from it all - in CT, but I know if I had to leave here due to something similar to what you're going through, I'd come back as well. Maybe being here and able to talk about it will help, especially with support from the members here. Take good care, Marilyn , " Wayne " <wayxes99 wrote: > > Hello, > I'm a Katrina survivor. Guest guest
Hi Wayne, Everyone has written so much better than I can, but I did want to say that I lived in Slidell until 98 and a part of the light in me, burnt out after what happened down there. I loved NOLA and have missed so many things since I left. Had hoped to go back there soon and I just could never afford the time off work and now, it'll be awhile. The city may never be the same again without the people who made the culture what it was. My son-in-law grew up there and his family is in the outlying areas still. His aunt lost her home and the "family home" they had still from the grandmother after she died, which they had kept the same. She is not going back either and is living in Pearl River with another relative. You're welcome to write me anytime. My thoughts are with you and I'm sorry about all your losses. The only suggestion I have is perhaps to also find a support group for survivors of Katrina...either online or in the real world. I'm sure they are cropping up with the high need. There's nothing like others who "have been there". If I find anything online, I will send it to you or post it at the group. I know I read many message boards a few months or so ago that were off of the NOLA websites...and kept finding new links. Take Care! Lor , "Wayne" <wayxes99 wrote: > >Hello, > I'm a Katrina survivor.
