I called the insurance company and got at appt for in the morning with a dentist.. so I'd like to request some healing energy sent to me. got my antibiotics (cuz of heart murmur I have to take them before appts) Also...not sure what they will do, but have heard that root canals aren't good to get and it's better to pull the tooth..just wanted some info since I don't know what the dentist is going to recommend tomorrow... I had cracked it chewing ice. )o: I was terrified - but lived thru it with my kids in the waiting room and was so relieved to get it out. I told the dentist I want to get all the mercury out of my mouth and he said it wasn't enough to hurt me.... He took out two mercury fillings and not sure what precautions he took, but my face swelled up like mumps and the teeth next to it became sore. He had me return the next day, and then said I needed a root canal. Most painful thing. My entire face swelled up again and he gave me a steroid shot, prednisone pills, and antibiotics. I was in and out of the ER with pain pills and antibiotics for one month. Never felt well after that and had fibromyalgia symptoms, kidney stones, and you name it. Finally got on some supplements and did a colon cleanse. Felt better finally and was able to work again. I ended up with a cardiac arrest 4 months into my new job. Now there is more research into how oral bacteria can settle around the heart and cause heart problems. The root canal has always hurt since and I've been recommended by another dentist to have it redone!! I'll eventually have it pulled..even a pulled tooth must be cleaned out thoroughly so anaerobic bacteria doesn't enclose in there. My story is be careful with having mercury out...make sure they use a mouth dam, ventilation, and all the precautions. Don't have too many out at the same time either, or a detox crisis can occur. Choose a dentist wisely from the DAMNS site, dentists against mercury amalgams site..hope it's still there. Just because they are on the site, does not mean they've been highly recommended either..interview them at their procedure which you will find on the site. If you pull a tooth, you will have an open space that will move all your teeth and cause more teeth to possibly have to be pulled. Have a root canal before it gets worse (about $400 where I live) then you will need a $400 crown over it. I love my crowns because they don't look like even have fillings. Try to whiten your teeth first and match that color not the darker. Just do Lamaze and project yourself out of your body and ask for lots of novacaine and you will be fine. Just think of how beautiful your teeth are going to look. I've had nine!!! crowns. My teeth were bad. And now, no more pain,ever. Your teeth are the most valuable thing, you use them every single day, all day. It's a worthy investment. Never chew ice or bite into very hot bread or eat popcorn while angry doing your taxes. I did. I hope this helps you make a decision. Children get more teeth, but adults can't. I'll pray you do the right thing. Guest guest Posted February 13, 2006 Report Share Posted February 13, 2006 I've had the one above it pulled several years ago...never had any teeth move at all...it was the back tooth. the dentist said this bottom tooth wouldn't cause any problems either. Read the info on the root canals I just sent. If it were a visible tooth, I would probably still consider the root canal, but since it's a back tooth, and the dentist said there wouldn't be any problems having it removed, I think it will be fine. I went with my guidance and got that pulling it was the best thing. Just going to the Dentist Sat I was shaking so bad I could hardly walk, almost passed out.... but I am taking a pain pill before going in, so that should help me relax a little, and they are going to do the IV sedation...
