MORE SENATORS AT NM LEGISLATURE WEBSITE. THANKS FOR PUTTING SOME TME INTO THIS...

Sat, 14 Jan 2006 22:05:27 -0600

We assembled this bill in the last ten days, because of the Environmental

Improvement Board temporarily caving in to Ajinomoto's demands for more

time, and threats of litigation. Truthfully, the Legislature and the

Governor are the best hope for banning Aspartame in New Mexico.

This bill is strong and short, and it will work. We can get it on the

Governor's agenda if enough state senators sign the bill the day it will be

introduced [Tuesday]. They will have this text in the attachment, which will

include a precise chemical definition of aspartame, and a few tiny

clarifications.

This means that a lot of people in the United States will take one hour

Sunday[tomorrow] and on Monday, during the day, and call several of these

state senators, asking them to sign the bill on Tuesday---------just leave

messages and don't expect them to call you back------IF ENOUGH PEOPLE DO

THIS, IT WILL LEAD TO THE GOV. PUTTING IT ON THE CALL, WHICH WILL REALLY HELP TO ASSURE ITS PASSAGE.

Please also send a fax to Governor Bill Richardson, in care of his Chief of

Staff, David Contarino, 505 476-2226, also asking the Governor to put the

Banning of Aspartame Bill on his Legislative Agenda. Governor Richardson

pays a great deal of attention to such FAXES, perhaps more than most

Governors, even those coming from non New Mexicans, in light of his long

range ambitions and qualifications.

Follow up calls can go to the Senators' offices on Monday and Tuesday

morning, before 10 A.M., Mountain Standard Time.
