Guest guest
STEALING TIME FOR MUDRAS – PART 2 copyright, mumbai, India, e-mail :- dkishan There is always time in the world for everything. Only it depends on what priority we give to which work. Sometimes the simple things which could give us very good affects are forgotten. Our trust in so –called allopathic medicine is still strong. In number of countries, there is a shortage of medical staff and getting appointment for a doctor for consultation and/or operation also takes time. These notes I am writing mainly to these sectors who have to leave themselves on fate. Why not try on alternative methods. Tea time:- so many of us consume tea at different times of the day. Normally one hand is used. It is also common to have chat with family members or colleagues. Use one hand for mudras and if possible during this chat, use both hands. Any mudra which is similar with both hands can be done with one hand also. Going to Toilet:- because of our sedentary life styles or food, constipation is very common to most people and they spend a lot of time in toilet seats. Those who have problems can do apan mudra say 5 mts before going to toilet and may continue while on the toilet seat. Slowly the constipation will be a thing of past. Apan mudra makes bowel movement very easy. There is no bar of doing any mudra at any time . Food:- so many times we order and wait for food in a restaurant or sometimes in the home also. You can utilize this time for doing mudras. To avoid being seen by others, you can just hang the hands sideways or keep on thighs. One can easily connect or disconnect hands. Discussion :- when we discuss so many things among friends or even colleagues, we may not be needing use of hands. We spend a lot of time on this also. Just think of a mudra which is easy. Phones - we spend lot of time on phone talks also. So many of it is for pleasure. Hold phone by one hand and make mudra from the other. In case of speaker phones, one can use both hands. Sleeping / lying down:- so many of us cannot sleep directly and keep tossing in bed. Doing gyan mudra will be very helpful in reducing tension and inducing good sleep. If you have more spare time you can just lie down on couch / sofa or bed and do the mudra you need. Waiting :- so many of us have to wait at customers place or doctor or say for interview. Use the mudras with advantage. Lunch time :- during lunch time, some spare time is given for rest. Do relaxation mudra or any other mudra you prefer, so that you feel mentally more capable for doing the work during the balance day. Surfing the net:- surfing the net could be a good time for doing mudras with one hand. At one time I was receiving nearly 200 mails a day through my very slow dialup connection. I was doing with both hands. Now I have broadband and so this is not done. But one can think of some spare time here. Prayers :- lot of people spend sometimes good amount of time in prayers. Doing namaste mudra synchronises both brains as well as calms down the mind. The simple gyan mudra is the one done during prayers as it connects the soul with the God. There are mudras very helpful in meditation including this gyan mudra. The thumb and hand position in most mudras can be connected and disconnected easily. Anything done for more than 2 minutes gives you the advantage of mudras. d.k.kothari
