GLOBAL PRAYER VS BIRD FLU and other disasters

sister raquel is issuing this global call to prayer

to avert a bird flu pandemic

which will hopefully be broadcasted

in many stations and in the internet

 

please pass it around so we can achieve

critical mass in our common prayer to avert a disaster

I remember the time when the world was almost in panic because of the

appearance of SARS that threatened to cause deaths of people around the

globe. The medical profession saw no cure for SARS. Where was God during

these terrible days? Could we reach God through our prayers? It was then

that I decided to lead people attending our healing session in pleading to

Jesus, our God, to stop the plague. For I believe, SARS was a plague. By a

stroke of grace, I was invited by Julie Yap Daza of Channel 23 to lead a

prayer. Via Channel 23, I enjoined those watching worldwide to join me in

prayer. As far as I can recall, this is the content of the prayer ­ " O

God, we know You are aware of what is happening to us worldwide. People

are dying because of SARS. Please put a stop to the spread of SARS. We are

sorry for all our sins. We amend our lives. Help us Jesus. Only You can

stop this SARS and allow us to start our lives all over again. [etc.

etc.] "

A week or two after that prayer over Channel 23, SARS disappeared. Nobody

could explain how it disappeared. Time Magazine carried the news on the

sudden disappearance of SARS, saying, " SARS disappeared without warning

just as it appeared without notice. "

For me and for those of us who believe in the loving goodness and mercy of

Jesus, there was an explanation to the disappearance of SARS. God did it.

Jesus stopped the spread of SARS because we prayed and we promised

obedience to His will, obedience to His laws.

Today, we are again threatened by another plague we call bird flu. Let us

again implore God's mercy in prayer.

Lord Jesus, bird flu is Your call to humanity

to kneel down before You in humility and repentance

forgive us our offences, o Lord

forgive our pride and self-righteousness

 

help us o Lord Jesus

if putting a stop to the spread of bird flu

will bring us to the realization

of Your divine presence in the world

and of Your divine mercy

then let it be Your will, Lord Jesus

 

please command the spirit causing this bird flu

to disappear worldwide

just like what happened to SARS

 

o God, You who are everything

that exists under the sun

why is it that You want us to pray to You

before You act on something?

is it because You want us to do our share

in shaping decisions that will affect the world?

 

humanity must choose ­

God or bird flu? God or disasters?

God or global earthquakes?

a return to God by a great number of people

will determine the kind of world we live in

 

my dear people of God

join me in our prayer for repentance

and total surrender to the will of God

o Lord Jesus, please accept our confessions of sins

forgive us our offences and help us walk again

in Your path of holiness

save us o Jesus from all types of disasters

that threaten our world

 

however Lord, if these calamities and plagues

are part of Your divine plan

to shake us from our indifference

and to awaken us to our responsibilities

as Your children

then Your most holy will be done

 

if and when Your divine will

shall let bird flu disappear globally, through our prayers

just like what happened to the SARS plague

i pray O Lord, that the money intended to fight bird flu

will be used to help Third World countries

financially and materially to rebuild their economies

 

thank You o Jesus for listening to our humble prayers
