Guest guest
Hi, I lost it through the process of escalation. What I mean is, I cut back a little at a time. The first things I eliminated were wine and cheese. Then, I eliminated other things and other meals as I hit plateaus. Currently, I fast every second day. I also started, gradually at first, an exercise program. I first started walking just to the end of my block and back, and then gradually increased to the point that I was walking around seven miles per day and then bicycling. I also supplemented with high doses of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, citrus bioflaviniod complex, GH boosting supplements like Arginine at bedtime on an empty stomach....any nutritional supplement that I felt could help increase the resiliency of the skin... I wanted to avoid plastic surgery if at all possible. I'm now doing the Tony Horton AB200 routine to keep from developing an " apron. " I also did facial exercises to keep from developing jowls. -Joe G
Guest guest
Hi Joe, I'm new to the list but have found it very informative. Congratulations on the weight loss, exercise and healthy life style. I'm currently "challenged" by a few things (migraines & trying to lose weight after children) and I'm trying to go the natural way to take care of them. I'm trying to fast once a week for health and spiritual reasons. I find it difficult because sometimes they trigger a major migraine and I wonder if there is something I could do to prevent this . Out of curiosity, did you build up to every second day? Do you drink anything other than water during your fast? Also, because of having children I would like to get rid of my "apron". Does the AB routine work? What supplements would you recommend for skin elasticity? Thanks, Jen H. from Maryland - Joseph A Gumbosky Monday, January 09, 2006 4:20 PM Weight Loss was Subluxation question Hi, I lost it through the process of escalation. I cut back on my eating bit by bit. When I would hit plateaus, I would cut back more. I was absolutely determined to lose weight. As for the migraines... I wonder if your body might be detoxing too quickly. Also, not every path is correct for everyone. If your body just rebels against fasting, maybe you should listen to it. As for drinking, I used t drink coffee....LOTS of coffee. But now I'm a POSTUM drinker. Also, several months ago, I started taking a glass of protein powder in water with a little Purganic mineral powder. I'm no expert, but I think that the body needs protein to build and repair tissue. So, i seemed prudent to me to add whey protein powder. As for other supplements, I take: Cod Liver Oil C-Complex Citrus Bioflaviniod Complex Hyaluronic Acid Tyrosine (thyroid) Resveratrol Pomegranate extract Grape seed extract CoQ10 ~7 mgs of DHEA Fasting to boost GH levels I also supplement with L-Arginine every night for three weeks before bed on an empty stomach to boost GH. I the alternate with Glutamine for a week or two to use a different mechanism to boost GH so that I don't build up a tolerance to the Arginine. Then, I go back to Arginine. Of course, this is what I do. There will be differences between us. For instance, maybe you won't react well to increasing DHEA. Also, I must point out that I've read in literature that by increasing DHEA levels, you MIGHT be increasing your of developing certain cancers. Also, increasing Gh levels can in increase the growth rate of some cancers. If you already ave cancer in your body undetected, it might become quite virulent. I read somewhere that one of the protocols for treating certain cancers is to DEPRESS GH levels. I've also read that long term increase if GH can cause elevated Blood Pressure levels. And, I've read somewhere that Hyaluronic acid can increase you risk of some cancers. There's also a theory that increasing antioxidant levels in the body might impair the body's ability to fight off infections. Again, I read " somewhere " that one of the body's means of fighting infections is in fact to OXIDIZE them. So, my way is risky. I won't endorse it for anyone else.
