Guest guest
Hi everyone, I'm working with a midlife woman who, over the last 3 years (since actual menopause) has lost 65% of her hair. I've suggested countless remedies for her, for hormonal balance, hair growth and to save the hair that remains. Fo-ti, B's, Biotin, EFA's, progesterone cream, horsetail, rosemary EO wraps, etc. etc. etc. She does NOT have any health conditions that would indicate hair loss (hypothyroidism, diabetes, etc.), uses excellent hair care products and eats right. In our phone consultation last night, which I spent hours preparing for, she invalidated every single natural approach I recommended basically saying she's tried it and it didn't work. Like me, she's committed to 100% pure products but is quite sure that " nothing " will work. Personally, I think there are some other " issues " going on (aren't there always?!) and she's just downright determined to remain miserable. But... that's another story. Hey, have any of you created or discovered a great topical or remedy for androgenic alopecia? You know, if you have, your product is worth a fortune! Just thought I'd throw it out there to see if there's something I've missed. Thanks for your consideration. Michelle
Guest guest
Hi, These symptoms do sound like hypothyroidism. I am assuming that she has been tested, but all tests are not accurate. There are several hormones that make up the profile for the thyroid and an imbalance can cause these problems. Many tests are only for one hormone. She might want to discuss this with her doctor. You might also research minerals, especially colloidal minerals as a mineral deficiency can cause hair loss. Too much vitamin A for a long period of time will also cause hair loss and dry, brittle hair. This does require a very high daily dosage but has been documented. And last but not least, if the woman is obsessed with her hair, it may be fulfilling her greatest fears. Our bodies do try to meet our expectations and oddly, enough this includes our fears of disease etc. Meditation with the focus on all things positive, including her hair, may help solve this problem. As healers we want to help everyone, but some people resist due to fears or other factors that they may not even realize are at work in them. Patience and continued support is vital for both her and you. Healers need hugs too. Guest guest
Hi Melba, I so appreciate the wisdom you shared. We have indeed discussed each of those issues. I especially enjoyed your comments pasted below. At this point, I've done all I can. There obviously remain reasons why she is not yet ready to take the necessary steps to healing, despite her desperation. As a hypnotherapist, I can see the emotional issues clearly, but she hasn't realized them yet and is entirely focused on the physical. I have encouraged her to begin utilizing Bach Flower Remedies and to practice meditation and other forms of stress management. I've planted seeds that will hopefully grow. What's that saying? " You can lead a horse to a stream but you can't make them drink " . It's been a good process for me too. I realize I have attracted this experience for lessons that needed to be learned within myself. Blessings, and thanks again Melba, Michelle And last but not least, if the woman is obsessed with her hair, it may be fulfilling her greatest fears.
