MT can work with soft tissues, muscle, etc. that pull on and distort disc alignment. Very often during a MT session, vertebrae wiill self-correct when the muscles around them begin to relax.

I would like to say I just came back off no mail because I had been in an abuse shelter for a while, then moved in with in laws because I had no other place to go, and I also suffer for degnerative disk disease and was referred to a neurosurgeon who said chiropractic, and massage wouldn't help it, well I refused to believe him, because when I was in Louisiana I was a licensed M.T. for two years. But I was not in practice long enough to encounter such problems living in a boony rural town where most of the population were older people who just didn't have an open mind to try massage. I did get a police officer who was a weight lifter in competitions and he only wanted a half hour treatment on shoulders, upper back and arms. At least he was open minded enough to give me a try, he never came back but hey I was a newbie back then. I used to still go once a week to my former instructor and he was still charging me student price he was so very sweet! When I moved to Wisconsin and I had my AMTA membership, my insurance, my National Certification, I took the WI Board's open book test on law and legislation and I would comb through that dang book and three times I wasted $39 a pop and failed each time, so my husband at the time refused to allow me to keep trying. The questions were obviously meant to be trick questions for someone coming from a different state since they refused to do reciprocal licensing. Which they should have done I practiced the same amount of hours that the students here go through! If I ever wanted to practice massage again I'd have to go to school all over again. And being bipolar with borderline personality disorder the studying would be hard now like it was back then. But I'd want to do daytime classes and not part time like I did when I went to two night classes a week and two weekends a month. Just have to see if I find my life partner after this divorce is over.

Namaste
