Guest guest
I went to a Chiropractor once and would like to know of my alternatives. Can a Masage Therapist work a slipped disk back into place? Thanks, SC
Guest guest
MT can work with soft tissues, muscle, etc. that pull on and distort disc alignment. Very often during a MT session, vertebrae wiill self-correct when the muscles around them begin to relax. Re: Massage Therapy for slipped disk/sdiatic nerve? <potoole1 Hi, My wife had sciatic nerve problem and it was so severe that she was advised to go for surgery after X-ray but I started massaging myself regularly using good quantity of warm oil and making sure that gentle massage and pressure was applied at all painful areas going right upto the back of the heel. I can assure you that massage works for sciatica though I can't say any thing about slipped disc. However, when the patient improves it is also necessary to go for light weight exercises as they make the back stronger. One more point is that when I went to professional massagers and chiropractors in the initial stages it didn't help for few months as they were not interactive or responsive to my wife's feedback and that is why I decided to do it myself. You start seeing results in two weeks of good massage. Regards, Kishore
Guest guest
What you report is true to my experience working with clients with sciatica. True sciatica is nerve pressure from disc problems. Even so, aleviatinbg the muscle tension around those discs can make a difference. There may be times when surgery is the last resort, but that's what it would be for me with back pain--after trying everything else that dealt with structure and soft tissue first. Guest guest
Good Eveniong Kish- 95 % of sciatica is caused by the piroformis muscle in the buttock getting inflamed and hardened. If your wife were laying on her stomach raise the affected foot so that hte shin is 90° to the bed and have her push her ankle into your hand outward towards the edge of the bed against resistance for 6-9 secs 6-10 times and this will give unbelievable relief. Guest guest
Thank you for sharing this with me! I'm not sure I can reach places certain areas of my back, without injuring myself (although it would be worth sending into " funniest home videos " ). I'm guessing that a combination of the two (self- massaging & neuromuscular or deep tissue massage) will work wonders. I am so grateful for finding this group! Guest guest
Good for you Kishore! I love self-help stories. One person I know cured his pregnant wife's severe varicose veins with daily foot reflexology.
