] Does anyone know how to keep kitten from under bed accidents

Sorry this took a few days, I had to ask around.

 

The question was:

 

We just adopted an 8 week kitten who is deficating under the bed insteadof her litter box in another room. Is there a non-poisonous alternativeto disuade her?>

 

My cat-loving friends wrote:---------Tough love!! lock her in the bathroom with the litter box until thereare NO more accidents for at least a week. Everytime there is one, itgoes back to the locked up bathroom for 24 hours. They get the message.Change the litter, and/or the box. At 8 weeks it might be to early tohave her roam.If you HAVE to have her in all rooms at all times, provide a smalllitter box under the bed for now. Not advisable, but it will break thepattern.Most likely the lil one wakes up at night and can't make it (or can'tremember) to wherever the box is.If the box has a lit, especially if there is a door, remove it til kitis way older. 3 to 5 months minimum. They hurt themselves trying tonegotiate anything advanced and therefore just don't do it.Oh, and make SURE you admonish. Push face in, really IN, then pick upat scruff, firmly scolding, carrying to litter box, forcing to stayinside, whilst petting, moving paws (making digging motions), praising.They'll get the hang.Also, spray something obnoxious (to kitties) on the spot under thebed... lemon or other citrus essential oils in water work well enough.Although they can always smell 'their' spots, it might help to keep itaway...Hugs, Sorcy

 

And:

one thing that works for sure is peppermint. If she was to use a bit of EO inher cleaning products and spreads some dried herb under the bed that may help.
