Does anyone know how to keep kitten from under bed accidents

Forgive the pet question, but this is really for me. We just adopted an 8 week kitten who is deficating under the bed instead of her litter box in another room. Is there a non-poisonous alternative to disuade her? I hurt my back trying to move the king size bed to shampoo under it the first time it happened. Is there a good smelling herb like lavender or something that would turn her away? I think the problem is affecting my health and it is very unpleasant to say the least.

Thank you for any suggestions

Hi Athena,

I seem to remember that orange peel is supposed to make them look for an alternative toilet. Biological wash powder is supposed to get rid of the smell, or you may be able to get something from the pet store - if there is any smell remaining the cat will return to where it has already been. I don't think that they mind the smell of lavender too much, so don't bother with that.

keep the bedroom door closed.

keep the kitten confined to an area where her litter

box is, with one of those child-proof gates if

necessary -

like the kitchen, or a bathroom, until she gets used

to her box -

the kitchen is often good - I keep the litter box

there to this day.

under a counter, with a lid and always clean.

You have to be very careful with essential oils with cats, they are

very sensitive to them and can be really hurt by them. I'm sorry I

can't suggest anything to discourage her, I don't know that much

about cats, but one thing I would suggest is to block off the area

you want her to stay out of. Maybe taking her poops from where she is

doing them and putting them into the litter pan will give her the

idea that that is where they are supposed to be done. I hope this

helps some.
