Hi All,

I recently started taking Cod Liver OIl and was told

before hand that usually if the oil had a " Fishy "

taste and lingered, it was bad oil ....So far I have

used three different brands and all three have the

" Fishy " oil taste but does not linger....I need some

help here....Does anyone know in depth about good or

bad Cod Liver oil....Thanks

Love always

Paz

I only recently started taking " fish oil " pills and since they are

gel, they don't taste like anything going down. However, " fish

burps " aren't uncommon....

While I'm not a pill expert - I eat Cod (bacalao) on a very regular

basis. It always struck me as a " fishy fish " - so I'd be suspect if

the oil wasn't as well..

If you know a good grocery or botanica that caters to Latinos, there

is a brand that comes in a small box and is flavored to be sweet.

These pills are small, red and solid. The ones I take are gelled

with an oil inside. I think the solid ones may be for people (maybe

children) with an aversion to the usual taste. However, I'm not sure

how many you would have to take to equal the larger, more fishy pills.

The Spanish for " cod liver oil " would be " aceite de bacalao "

Dear Members,

since the days are getting shorter, I bought myself a (large) bottle of cod

liver oil, thinking of the wonderful health benefits a daily teaspoon of

that stuff would bestow on me.

Unfortunately it tastes awful and I am ready to pour it down the sink.

The label states that

1tsp contains 4000IUs of vitamin A and 400IUs of Vitamin D3.

Does anybody have some suggestion how to make codliver oil more palatable?

Carlson sells a lemon cod liver oil that tastes good.

You could try adding some lemon juice to yours and see if that helps.

Hi Lisa,

I hope you are well. I just recently started taking fish oil

again and I stopped because I didnt like the taste. You can do

the capsules, but the oil is supposed to be better. I use

Carlson's lemon flavor, which is a little better. What I found

to be effective is to take the oil and then drink water right

after and that makes it much more tolerable. I hope that helps.

Blessings,

Avalaura

Dear Members,

thank you for all the helpful advice. As suggested, I am now taking the oil

with honey and lemon, heavy on the honey ;-). It works fine. Next time

around I will try to find Carlson's lemon flavored oil or buy capsules.

Actually somebody else suggested to eat a piece of bread after taking the

cod liver oil.

Thanks again, Lisa
