Guest guest
Hello! I would like to introduce myself, I am Wendy, a masters degree student from The Netherlands. I have always been interested in alternative ways to stay healthy or to cure illnesses. I have used homeopathy, orthomolecular acupuncture and anthroposophy methods. I have eaten mostly organic food since the last few years, and for half a year I eliminated all sugars (the first month also no sweet fruits) from my diet. This was because of returning throat infections (every couple of months), but after the diet these infections never returned. Now, since a few weeks I have gotten some symptoms of illness again. Maybe someone has a view on why or how this is happening (especially since I'm doing all I can to be as healthy as possible), or what to do about it. Since a few months I have had problems with my tongue; even though there is nothing to see, the skin hurts a lot (some days a lot, some days not at all). Since about a month I have started drinking more water than I used to, eating more vegetables and fruits and taking some mineral and vitamin supplements. Also a few weeks ago, I got bothered by a minor yeast infection, which I hoped would disappear, but has remained until today. I will be going to the doctor for that this week. Also since some months I have a tiny wart on my lip, also a symptom of a virus, or a weakened immune system. Then, since a couple of days my dustmyte allergy has started to get worse (I keep sneezing), and an eczema that has been gone from my neck for years now, is starting to return. Apart from this I have a good energy level, am sleeping well (eventhough also since some weeks I have not been able to sleep in anymore; I used to be very good at that ; )), and am not experiencing exceptional stress. I would love to hear some of your ideas or cures on why my body is starting to show all these symptoms. Thanks in advance! Wendy
Guest guest
Hello Wendy, If you were given antibiotics for your throat infections you most likely suffer with chronic candida. This would explain the return of the infections and the yeast (candida) infection. If your tongue is whitish and sore that is a good indication that your candida level is out of control. To control candida you must eliminate carbohydrates from your diet. There are several good books out explaining this. The candida could also be the source of some of your allergies. Antibiotics are very damaging to the body's immune system although they are wonderful if used carefully and only when really needed. There are herbs which will boost your immune system such as echinacea. An herbal reference book will also give you other herbs which may help. To control your allergy symptoms and alleviate their recurrence you should take at least 5,000-10,000 milligrams of vitamin C and 500 mgs. of pantothenic acid (B5) daily. (If you develop loose bowels reduce the amount of C until a balance is found.)If you have fever blisters you should add B6 to this and those three together seem to rid the body of these bothersome blisters. They help to keep the cell walls from being so permeable. Another excellent point is that none of them are expensive. As a graduate student you are most probably under a lot of stress and that will make you weak to allergies and other illnesses. Meditation, yoga or some other calming discipline will help you manage your stress. The meditation will also help you sleep and rest better. All of these suggestions have been proven over the years to be effective and there is much more information available today to help you. This site and other holistic health websites offer wonderful information. Keep eating healthy organic food and drinking plenty of pure water. Also, take your vitamins and minerals daily in moderate amounts. That is wonderful support for your body and mind overall. Peace and blessings to you and I hope to hear soon that you are on the mend. Guest guest
Hi Wendy, I would suggest looking at the Hulda Clark regime - parasite cleanse, kidney cleanse, liver flush. This may be the way forward for you. Val - lagomerarizonastar Monday, September 19, 2005 4:09 PM Weakened immune system, ideas? Hello! Guest guest
Hallo Wendy! You mention vitamins and minerals, but I didn't hear you talk about probiotics. You know, the good wee beasties that live in symbiosis with us in your intestines. Are you using anything like acidophilus? It is a must after anti-biotics! Do you tolerate dairy? If so, get some Groene Weg or other organic yogurt daily. Most of the dairy in Holland is still grass-fed, and that makes it much healthier food than here in North America. Many herbs will help an irritated gut to heal. Slippery Elm may do it. It is widely available and cheap. I don't know the Dutch name, Latin is Ulmus Fulva. Begin maar met een lekker bakje yogurt. Het beste!
