Guest guest
Have you tried ear candles? You would be positively amazed at what comes out of your ears with this method. You will need someone to help you as it is not something you can do on yourself. Guest guest
For the ear infections and when getting sick, I put garlic juice in my ears. I have had good results with this in myself and my baby (Hayden 1yrs old). I just get a jar a minced garlic at the store, tip it at a 45 degree angle and suck the juice out with a baby medicine syringe. Then I have someone put about 3 drops in my ear and I pull on my ear lobe so that the garlic gets all the way down. Lay down so the juice stays in there. Leave it in there for about 3 min, longer if desired, then turn over and let it drain on a towel or something absorbent. I have had ear problems for as long as I can "consciously" recall. I remember my father putting drops of warm olive oil into my ears at the age of six when I couldn't sleep because of the incredible pain in my ears. I sometimes have days when one or both of my ears will simply "clog up", and I can scarcely hear, but this rarely happens, yet when it does, there seems to be nothing I can do. Not too long ago, I had such an infection in my right ear, that I could not eat because I simply could not operate my jaw muscles for lack of any relief of pain in my ear. Today, for instance, I awoke and my left ear was clogged, this remedied itself shortly after I was up and moving around, however, currently my right ear is clogged. I did use some warm cold-pressed virgin olive oil in my ear, but to no avail, and I strongly dislike using Q-tips in my ears as they tend to create more pain than they do any good, but when I do use Q-tips, I have an incredible amount of earwax that is very dark in colour with little smell. So, if anyone has any ideas, or herbal remedies for this, I would greatly appreciate it!!!-Clarise EitnerFederal Law requires that we warn you of the following: 1. Guest guest
Only thing I know is syringing the ear. Have you tried that? Lisa - Clarise Alice Marie Eitner herbal remedies Friday, September 27, 2002 5:19 AM [herbal remedies] Ear Problems Wellllll.....I'm wondering, I still cannot hear out of my right ear, although I've been using warm olive oil every night when I get home. I haven't been able to obtain any fresh garlic cloves as of yet, and I don't readily have any other ingredients that I have heard might help. I also have this odd static sound in my ear, although sometimes it is a ringing. The sounds are not really uncomfortable, and my ear does not ache, unless I try using a Q-tip, then it really hurts, like maybe the canal is swollen. I'm not sure. Any other ideas to throw out? Guest guest
Hi...have you tried ear candling? I have used them before, but not really for any specific problem. I'm pretty new here so I am not familiar with what your problem is with your ear. Ear candles are a bit controversial...but I've found them to be great. It's a peice of linen, covered in wax such as beeswax or parafin, rolled into a 'candle'. You light one end and place the other end at the ear opening (not in your ear). It creates a 'vacuum'...gentle suction action of sorts. When you are done you can see all the stuff that came out of your ear. It is supposed to help many things including ear pain. I didn't use it for any pain, actually, I was just trying it, but found that my ears really seemed clearer when I was done. I read up alot on them because I really was pleased with the way my ears felt after one treatment. I found lots of places on the web to buy from...the place I got them from sells herbal ear candles. I can see if I can find the url for the site if you want (can I post that here?). If you have an ear infection...try putting a drop of Lavender EO and a drop of Tea tree Eo on a piece of cotton and plug your ear with it at bedtime (like when you have an earache) That'll help clear it up. I've actually done this for myself. I had an earache and my ear was all clogged up and sounded like I was underwater, lol. I did this at night and the next morning the pain was gone and some of the symptoms went away. Day after that, my ear was fine. I'm not sure if putting olive oil in your ear is a good idea right now. But don't take my word on that about that. I just never heard of that for anything other than just cleaning out your ears. How many days have you been doing that? Chamomile has some antibiotic properties, you might want to try to drink 2 or 3 strong cups of that for a few days (if you don't have any ragweed allergies). Hope this helps and if I think of anything else I'll let ya know. Guest guest
Clarise, Do you have any hydrogen peroxide? Pour some in the ear (lay flat or tilthead) let it bubble for a minute... tilt head over sink - empty --- then take a small syringe and use the warm water to flush it out.... If it is wax build up you may have to do this a couple times..... you would be amazed what comes out....lol.... then you can use the garlic and mullen to ehlp. suzi New DSL Internet Access from SBC
Guest guest
Hi Clarise, Yes, just syringe with water. You can buy small bulbs for this purpose. Sorry I'm not sure where as I don't live in USA. But I'm sure someone could advise on that? If it's really clogged up, there are some ear drops specific for cleaning. I don't know how "healthy" they are, as I used them once before I got into all the natural remedies. But they did work :-) You put them in your ear, leave them for a bit to soften the wax, and then syringe to get all the wax out. Guest guest
Clarise, q-tips can pack ear wax even tighter against your eardrum, and that may be why it hurts. Try getting a baby ear bulb syringe from the market and flush the ear out with clean warm water. Garlic and mullein in olive oil will help a lot, especially if there is infection. It wouldn't hurt to take garlic tablets for a few days either, until you can get your total tonic made ;-) Just make sure they are natural, with no additives. Look for a health food store in your area and read labels, ask the clerk. The net has many good sources for natural products too. (and keep nagging your dad hehehee!) Guest guest
You can obtain ear syringes from the baby section of your local market. Shouldn't be more than 2-3 bucks. Gerber is the most common sold. Janet - Lisa Belcher herbal remedies Friday, September 27, 2002 7:33 AM Re: [herbal remedies] Re: Ear Problems Hi Clarise, Yes, just syringe with water. Guest guest
It has been said that regular hydrogen peroxide placed in the ear canal and left for at least 15 minutes in each ear (or until the bubbling has completely stopped) will do wonders for the ears, nose, throat, etc. in short, anything from the neck and above. Cheap and easy to try and won't hurt anything. I do it all the time and it helps. pj
Guest guest
I have similar problems with my ears... if it is a virus antibiotics won't do a think... Antibiotics only work on bacterial infections. My ears burn and itch and sometimes have the feeling of bugs crawling in them. However, it turned out that I had a fungal ear infection that had to be treated with diflucam of all things... as I got involved in alternative health and medicines I found that I had a Candida infestation that actually was causing me to crave sugar, aggrevate my diabetes and cause yeast infections in my skin and ears. You might want to see about a candida cleanse... ask the list maybe someone there can help. I forgot what all I took but once I got it out of my system I have not had this problem again. Guest guest
There are oil based peroxides used in the ear I think they sell it under the name DEBROX. It is more effective and will remove a lot of the ear wax and gunk out of the ear if you have buildup. Just rinse the ear gently with a bulb syringe and room temp water.
