Would anyone be able to explain what causes high triglyceride readings

there are many possible causes of high TG readings, I explain one that I

think is important : the way to transport fat within the body from the storage

fat

cells (like those fat cells under the skin) to muscle cells (that use fat as

fuel) is in the blood, if muscle cells do not have sugar as a fuel they are

forced to burn fat, they have no other abundant fuel, so if you are e.g. fasting

more triglycerides are released from fat cells and travel in the blood to

your muscle cells to be used and TG readings go up as in many people muscle

cells

are not used to burn fat very effectively clearing blood from fat fast

enough. If your diet contains lots of carbohydrates (like sugar or starches)

your

cells have lost the ability to burn fats effectively. This is the same effect

as with your muscles becoming weak if you never do sports but become strong

after training .So even dietary restriction will increase blood levels of TG

until the surplus of fat and stored nutrients is burned down. If you avoid

carbohydrates in you diet your cells you may train your cells to burn fat and

finally

TG may go down. A good way to train cells to burn fat is long distance

running. After 1-3 hours of running the carbohydrate stores are used up and if

you

cant burn triglycerides you cant go on, so if you go on for some more hours you

force cells to finally rebuild the biochemical structures to burn fat from

ineffectively to effectively.
