Guest guest
Frank. 1st, thankyou so much for that long letter, I wasent expecting it. A spot on reply, and quite honestly what I susspected. Having followed 4 differant groups (benzo and ad) for 4 years did give me more insite than the average Doc, or member of public. Did not realise however that Ads can take longer than benzos to get over.. Ive been in and out of so called proffetional esstablishments 6 times over the past 3 years, though this problem has lasted 5 in total so far. As you so rightful pointed out, one drug to cover another ect ect (at the worst point 4 at the same time). Then of course theres all who care about me saying that I should trust the medical proffession.. my last vistit to a psy ward was due to having taken sam-e and very high dose vitb complex for helping Zoloft WD. It over exited me and when I stopped became very ill indeed. Was informed that infact high dose vitbs can cause brain dammage, which is exactly how it felt. Is this true or just more missleading medical advise? The proffeser of the clinique herd what I had to say, and he said that the only choise he had as far as giving me something that would not harm my brain anyfurther was an AD called Moclamine (a selective MAOI). He told me that there were very little, if any WDs involved or risk of damage, but that due to the mildness of this med it was not very affective against deppression (he mentioned that it was not like the old MAOIs which apparently were hard to stop). He also put me on lithium 400mg. What do you think about these? Its true as I can contest, the Moclamine was not very affective, though took the edge off the deppression, and was very easy to stop, also got the imppression that the dammage underneath was still healing itself.. the Lithium did work after a long time, but got some bad side effects, but was also relitivly easy to stop. Is it safe to go back on eigther of these, or is there another way? Am of course willing to accept that theres nothing I can do but to live with this deppression for I dont know how long, but as mentioned, my phisical health is at risk due to the deppression seeming to 'eat' all my energys, ie evon if I eat still keep loosing weight, and sevear deppression is, shall we say very difficult to live with for months on end; infact evon an hour at this level is enough to make you have 'black' thoughts if u see what I mean. Again, many thanks for your reply. It was reasurring to talk to hear from some one other than a shrink in so long, as I havent writen to any of the groups in allmost 7 months. The inpatient treatment programs hardly ever go beyond thirty days and the withdrawal is just building a head of steam at that point for these drugs. The withdrawal from benzos can be a year or more. As for the Antideps, it can take a few years for some to right their brain chemicals again. These programs are not designed to get you off safely. They are designed to be very profitable for the hospital or whatever they call their facility. Your welfare is way down on their list of priorities. The only treatment they offer is usually another chemical to help cover the horrible symptoms of withdrawal that these drugs cause. The problem is that the person has just swithched chemicals and is just covering up the damage by suppressing the symptoms, but it does not heal and will reoccur when the person tries to get off that which was used to cover them up. The only real healing takes place when the body is fortified with libral amounts of what it needs to heal. Amino acids to make nuerotransmitters, vitamins to heal, omega lll fatty acids to rebuild myelin, lots of vitamin C to carry away all the stored toxic byproducts of taking this crap, vitamin E to heal, niacin to detox the toxins, and many others not listed. Will these nutrients stop the pain and cover the symptoms of withdrawal or toxic damage? Unfortunately No they will not. Some will lessen the symptoms considerably if taken in large amounts. That is not the answer most people want, so they move from one drug to another, at their doctors urging, hoping to avoid the inevitable symptoms and just get further and further into being sucked into a drug whirlwind nightmare. The doctors will keep prescribing and telling you that they are experts. Maybe experts at bullshitting, but most of them don't have a clue what these drugs do or how to get you off of them. They damage the hell out of people almost at every turn. Basically most are nothing more than licensed drug dealers, whether they are pushing a heart pill or this type of dope. Almost all do nothing more than cover up the symptom and cause further damage. I am sure that you are somewhat familiar with the Ashton manual for tapering off of benzos. Well the same principle holds true for the antideps. It usually has to be a long slow taper to allow the brain to rebalance gradually as it is able to. Read all of the links and read as many of the messages in the archives about these drugs as you can stand and you will be in better shape, knowledge wise, than 99% of the people who try and come off these drugs and probably almost the same amount of doctors. Am considering putting myself into a clinique specializing in medication related problems. In essance I started with a benzo problem, and to get off that was put on many ad's. The ad,s then became the problem, and to try to stop these I took various substances advised by various groups. Unfortunatly some of these substances damaged me as badly as the drugs I took them to stop. Found myself back in a nut house april of this year. Was there 3 months, and back on ADs, but they hurt me all over again, and still suffing from the alternatives that were taken last december. The deppression/ weakness/sickness are so bad can hardly talk/eat/function at all. Have been advised to go to the only clinique in france that specializes in medication withdrawal. Guest guest
--- Hello Jason, I often wonder - why it is - that we have so much (materialistically speaking) in the 'modern world' but ... far too many people *suffer* with anxiety/depression dis-orders ! I had some experience with drugs in the 1960s (whenever that was) mainly cannabis, LSD, amphetamines, barbiturates, cough mixture! (morphine), never touched coke or H though - which is wreaking so many lives today. You've got a journey to make Jason, and in the final analysis only you can do it but - you've gotta want it real bad - and I think you are ready. So, if your 'doing' coffee - kick it, but do it slowly ... same goes for sugar - all sugar. Don't touch alcohol *at all* ... try to avoid stress n' stressful situations - not easy in this world I know. I wouldn't feel easy recommending supplements in your situation but - take on board what other people have tried with success and do your own research on the world wide. Lastly, we are to a certain extent - what we eat (and drink) which brings me to the main purpose of this reply ... I would suggest you search this site throughout - http://www.foodandmood.org/Pages/didyou1.html Kind regards - Ray. jason adams Sunday, August 17, 2003 12:37 AM Re: 4 Frank Re: appreciate some advise about drug WD center intentions Frank. 1st, thankyou so much for that long letter, I wasent expecting it.
