It is far cheaper and respectful of individual rights to choice not to be force medicated by society. I wish we could do it in New York, or at least offer it as a back up position if some politicians are afraid to be seen as depriving constituents of a " health benefit. " We could sudsidize fluoride tablets for those who want it. arnold Subj: Nixed fluoridation; fund tablets 8/12/2003 8:50:22 AM Eastern Standard Time I don't remember if this is old news: MINUTES JUNE 19, 2003 ALTA (UTAH) TOWN COUNCIL MEETING The Mayor reviewed the fluoridation issue. He explained that a few years back the residents of the Town voted in favor of fluoridating the Town’s water supply. Since that election many issues have come up, one of which is that to implement this process will cost a considerable amount of money. Also municipalities that serve less than 3300 full time residents are exempt from the requirement of fluoridation. The Mayor has consulted with Keith Hanson the individual that operates our water system, and his recommendation is to not fluoridate. Instead he recommended that the Town reimburse those citizens whose children take the fluoride supplements. Paul advised the Council to vote on this matter, as it will take Town funding to implement this practice. Tom Pollard made a motion to approve the reimbursement for fluoride tablets for retail water customers in the Town of Alta and that we do not put fluoride in the Town’s water system. There was a second by Rosi Gale and the motion was carried. http://www.townofalta.com/minJun03.htm CK New York State Coalition Opposed to Fluoridation http://www.orgsites.com/ny/nyscof http://tinyurl.com/ad9k Fluoride Action Network http://www.fluoridealert.org
