Guest guest
Evening Jan, >> Please tell me that the actual WILL stay in place. Are you presently on any lists that are handled by a genuine list server? Many people are in love with who have neither experienced the " other way " , or have not mastered managing their mail on their local computer. Managing your mail locally, with a powerful mail program is much faster, easier, and takes less of your time to accomplish the same task. I am on 23 , plus some 10 or 12 lists that are handled by a software similar to the proposed changes for this list. Believe me, I could not handle 10 percent of this volume if I was doing web based mail. >I've never been a big fan of websites that thread messages into >catagories, but has added that feature to groups now, perhaps >that would fit the need you see? The current message archieve is >searchable - and now if you go into the archieve you can click on >'thread' upper right side of the heading for messages and it will >'thread' for you. There must be some advantages to the thing I fail to understand. It could be because I have not mastered them. I think I accomplish the same thing, locally. Many of the ones who would vote to keep have not read of all the changes and do not understand the limitations of for the future. Maybe someone can post these changes and the effect they will have on the very things that you like and use. Wayne
Guest guest
-I do moderate about 8 presently, and enjoy the way they function. For one thing I do not receive any emails from any of the groups I belong to (whether moderator or member) perferring to read at the website itself. The big change that is 'springing' on everyone is the lack of storage space for mail attachments. Attachments will be sent along with the messages to a group to those who and read messages via their own email accounts - the difference is they will no longer be stored in the message archieves at that group. My groups do not permit attachements so it is of little consequence to us. we copy and paste to our files if we have something we want to save. I have tried a few 'boards' or lists' in the past and find them enormously time consuming going thru message after message on a subject line before finding the actual information - so many people just use the same subject line whether it is germaine or not. just my tuppence on the subject.
