Guest guest
Resending this as a Special Notice. Dear Group, You are a great bunch here. You put up with me and still try and help each other. The group is getting larger and more people are coming who need help in researching health problems. For some it has been difficult to find all of the relevent information in the message archives because the messages are all jumbled together and not seperated by subject. It is dependent on how well they undertsand search engines and search terms etc. I am planning soon to migrate the group to a website and a real message board. In that way, relevent information will be grouped under similar subject threads and should be much easier to use. Ther is a ton of good information in our 14,000+ messages in the archives and we want to make it available as an archive on that site also, and in a similar visual format. Wayne has saved most of all the messages that have been posted here and has graciously agreed to make them available if we can work out the technical details. I am going to ask you members to help out with this move in anumber of ways. We need help with the moving of all those messages. We need moderators of specific areas of the new board. Do you have a good working knowledge of a particular area of alternative medicine? Herbal, acupuncture, fatty acids, viamins, etc. Do you have particular knowledge in a specific disease or condition and are knowledgeable about the natural remedies associated with the treatment of it? Do you have website knowledge? Do you have computer knowledge? The way it works is that we all help each other to find ways to heal and be healthy. If you have been helped by any information that you have received in this group, here is your chance to help others. They can then help others down the line etc. Please send me an email if you can help in any of these areas. Uncle Frank Wants You! Sign Here! Loose Lips Sink Ships! Remenber The Maine! Seriously, think about helping others and what it can mean to someone out there who is sick and needs assistance. If we can be available to more people in a better way, here is your chance to take part in that and help. thanks, Frank califpacific
Guest guest
Dear 'Uncle' Frank - I'm relatively new to this group - and I find much of the information to be very helpful and supportive of the types of advice and treatment etc. that we to in our home. Please tell me that the actual WILL stay in place. I've never been a big fan of websites that thread messages into catagories, but has added that feature to groups now, perhaps that would fit the need you see? The current message archieve is searchable - and now if you go into the archieve you can click on 'thread' upper right side of the heading for messages and it will 'thread' for you. thanks for all your hard work, I appreciate it very much, Jan
Guest guest
Dear Group, I would like to thank all who wrote to me and offered their services. Thank you all, you are great people to do something for someone other than yourself. And, yes this group will be moving to a real message board. The difference in benefits are obvious. Any who finds it unendurable can write and we will give you a refund of the money that you paid for your subscription here. As usual not many people volunteered to do any actual work, (to the ones that did , thank you very much) but people will stand in line to get the opportunity to tell you what to do, always.. If you feel guilty for not volunteering, you should. I do not know what the final form will be for the group, but it is too hard on the moderators and new comers here. The same questions keep getting asked and answered over and over again with the structure we have here. It is not fair to the newcomer because he doesn't know that it has been answered a hundred times and it is unfair to the moderators to be expected to cover that area for the hundredth time and then a few days later to have another new person come to the board, needing help and as much information as possible, and ask the same or similar question. And no if you are not a newcomer, contributor or a moderator, you probably don't care,..but you should. This group has almost 1100 members now and there are people leaving and coming to the group every day. The arraingement is fine for a small group with small changes in population or few newcomers, but does not work well for large groups. This group will be kept as an archive with a very few postings to keep it active, but available to the members who want to search it's archives. The information given in the present format is very limited because when a question comes up, the moderators try and cover what the person needs to know, but then has the choice of trying to give an answer that may be immediate but incomplete in relation to the amount of information stored in our archives or he can refer the person to the archives because it is more complete and will be ultimately more beneficial but, the newcomer thinks he is getting short shrift and being sluffed off, disrespected and is not getting the same attention that others have gotten here. The present system is not realy very good for either person of this arraingment. Under the new arraingment we will have multiple message boards under one web site (the front of the message board will be broken up in categories of disease and conditions and natural treatments and nutrients. The information will accumulate collected together by what is relevent to that heading. ie. cancer, heart, cfs, vitamin C, etc. That way a lot of questions can be answered by any new person coming to the group by just reading the accumulated info. Then if they have additional questions they can post them in that area. That way they get a more complete answer, and also the moderator doesn't need to repost or reauthor the same material over and over again constantly. On the web we will be much more visable so more people with expertise in different areas will find it and more people who need the information will find it. Seems to me like a good change to try, so that is the plan for now. thanks again to you people who volunteered to help out, Frank -- In , " califpacific " <califpacific> wrote: > Resending this as a Special Notice. > > Dear Group, > > You are a great bunch here. > > You put up with me and still try and help each other. > > The group is getting larger and more people are coming who need help > in researching health problems. > > For some it has been difficult to find all of the relevent > information in the message archives because the messages are all > jumbled together and not seperated by subject.
